Fz2379: MAS' (Malaysian Airlines) woes started when former PM. Dr Mahathir Mohamad privatised it to Tajudin Ramli. Prior to that, it seemed to be running well enough.

The story about Tajudin has been told many times before already. Basically, he bled the national carrier and still got himself bailed out by the taxpayers, thanks to his benefactors.

Democrat 53: The main culprit in former MAS chief Tajudin's case is none other than the great Dr Mahathir. Now he at times pretends that we should go by the book - a practice he had never done in his 22 years in office.

Minister in Prime Minister's Office Nazri Abdul Aziz had been directed by none other than PM Najib Razak to issue letters to all GLCs (government-linked companies) to withdraw all cases because there is a sweet deal for Umno for the election fund.

That is, what is owed to the government (ie taxpayers' money) now goes to Umno directly.

This is the biggest lie from Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin. He has lost the little credibility many of us thought he had.

Tajudin would never have paid more than he is required to. Nobody from Umno-BN would ever do that. Most do not pay anything at all. That's why they are in Umno.

If payment was actually made, the Umno-BN government would have gone to town with the news frontpaged in all mainstream newspapers. Tajudin would have probably paid some to the Umno election fund as I have commented above.

Gandhi: Khairy must have heard this saying, ‘Better to keep your mouth closed and be thought a fool than to open it and remove all doubt'.

In future, his participation in a debate will not get the kind of interest he had before this PTPTN (National Education Loan Fund) debate.

Mushiro: Khairy during the debate glaringly avoided a few sensitive questions and bluffed with vague answers on a few other questions.

The question on him and former PM Pak Lah (Abdullah Ahmad Badawi) misusing the Petronas RM265 billion was avoided twice.

The answers about National Feedlot Corporation (NFC) paying back their loans is obvious bull, and the answer about Tajudin paying 'may be more' than the RM595 million is sick. Many believe Tajudin did not pay back a single cent.

Khairy's answer that 'hopefully in future' the number of students paying back the PTPTN loan will increase to about 40 percent is hoping for the impossible.

The present track record shows that over the past eight years, less than 10 percent of students on PTPTN have been paying up.

Anonymous_3f4a: The federal government owes the public a duty to reveal the details of the settlement and not to hide behind the 'smoke screens' if they are to be believed.

Anything done in secret bounds to raise public concerns, especially the nature of the settlement is of national importance as Tajudin maintains his involvement with MAS is a 'national service'.

That's the government transformation that PM Najib Razak should be talking about and initiating, not to engage in deals that are done in secrecy.

As it happens, Najib's GTP (government transformation programme) is not worth the paper it's written on.

Lim Chong Leong: Why settle out of court under a shroud of secrecy and pay more than the judgment sum? Khairy, please give just one good reason, just one.

Why have all the parties involved engaging only an Umno lawyer and he mysteriously gets a mega-project with the former chief justice's wife only for the judgment debtor to pay more than he owes?

ONG: Only a fool will pay more than what is owed. Tajudin is definitely no fool. Only a fool would think that someone like Tajudin would pay even one sen more than what is owed.

Therefore, Khairy must be the fool. If a fool can get elected to be the head of Umno Youth, I can imagine what sort of fools the members must be for them to elect him.

Dont Just Talk: There is no need to know exactly what happened when the red T-shirt guys from Umno and Perkasa are around.

Like true rabble-rousers, they will gate crash the opposition parties' events and instead of engaging PAS and S Ambiga in intellectual debates, they will throw eggs and stones at the organisers. Later, the local leaders will claim ignorance of these misdeeds.

Why is Umno and Perkasa so afraid of Pakatan Rakyat leaders organising talks among the rural Malays?

Why is the PDRM (Royal Malaysian Police) so helpless when dealing with Umno members and Perkasa, meanwhile when it involves Pakatan Rakyat members, the treatment is totally different?
