Clearly, Mahathir can't see his own baloney

YOURSAY 'To you when you charged others, it is all based on facts and law. When others are about to charge you, it is false and abuse of power.'

Mahathir: I don't fear Pakatan taking Putrajaya

your say Free And Fair Election: Dr Mahathir Mohamad, why the fear when you have done no wrong? Are you not the father of modernisation?

In fact, if you have done so much good, you would be honoured by every Malaysian. Why fear that you will be jailed with false charges unless you have done the same to the opposition before?

Are the ghosts of your past coming back to haunt you? Why fear what men can do to you while on earth when one day, everyone will have to meet our Maker? Don't you believe there is life after death?

Abasir: The sorry state of this country today is entirely attributable to the machinations of Mahathir.

That is his legacy: a state that is on the brink of failure, with rapidly diminishing talent and wealth, a population polarised along racial lines, thousands of uniformed thugs schooled by BTN (Biro Tatanegara), a suspect judiciary, massive numbers of people eking out a living, plummeting quality of life, rising crime and continually declining standards of education.

At the same time, he created a class of crony businessmen who, on the basis of 'you help me, I help you', propped up his regime of rascals with ill-gotten profits from sweetheart deals.

Ferdtan: Mahathir said: 'I don't fear Pakatan taking over Putrajaya', but he should have added that he fears Anwar Ibrahim more. Why is he so afraid of his former deputy PM?

What injustices had he committed against him that he is sure that Anwar would seek his revenge, by hook or by crook?

In the past, when the victims complained of injustice, he would sarcastically advise them to lodge police reports or go to the courts to sue. With the change in government, and after the clean-up of the tainted police force and the judiciary, we would advise him the same.

Has he ever wondered why this man, by the name of Anwar Ibrahim, never seems to fade away?

He was ridiculed, jailed, beaten, stripped and humiliate with sex allegations with males and prostitutes alike, and yet he is like a phoenix rising from the ashes when the flames are gone.

Indeed, nothing happens without a reason.

Absolom: Dr M, what do you mean by being jailed on false charges? Is it anything like what you did to Anwar?

For a guy who has done no wrong, who has no fear, who has not abused his power, who earned all his money righteously, you seem to be defending yourself rather profusely.

Pemerhati: Mohd Nazri Abdul Aziz, Mahathir's Umno colleague, called him the father of racism.

Mahathir, who by tradition would be called a Malayalee Indian because his grandfather was a Malayalee and so by tradition his father would also be a Malayalee and Mahathir, the son of that Malayalee, would also be a Malayalee.

But the Malaysian constitution also gave him the option of calling himself a Malay. He, like the many Arabs, Turks, Siamese, Bugis and Chinese chose to call himself a Malay as it allowed him to obtain the privileges meant for the backward native Malays and also the opportunity to join Umno, the dominant political organisation.

He played the race card to the hilt to endear himself to the majority Malays so as to gain power and steal billions as clearly shown by the unusually high wealth of his children.

One of them is reported to be a billionaire and the others may not be far behind. Indeed, he may not have much money as at his age as he would have transferred most of it to his children.

Kairos: Mahathir is a self-deluded man. What he says do not gel with the experiences of key businessmen during his tenure as PM.

It was an open secret then that he and his henchmen, including former finance minister Daim Zainuddin, were blatant in their bullying and high-handed tactics on Chinese businessmen, getting percentages of their profits in exchange favours.

Now, the old fox pleads innocence with a poker face. It's all lies and more lies. Well, when the time comes, let everything be exposed and let him go through some of the hell that he has given to Anwar all these years.

Anonymous_3e93: While the country faces severe financial crisis in 1997, his first priority was to save his own son, Mirzan, by using Petronas to bail out Mirzan's loss-making and hugely indebted Konsortium Perkapalan.

I even recalled Mahathir rationalising the bailout of his son by giving the flimsy excuse that Mirzan could not sell the company to Genting (read: the Chinese). The real fact was that nobody wanted the loss-making Konsortium but Mahathir abused his position by forcing Petronas to bail out his son.

If I were the AG (attorney-general), Mahathir would have been prosecuted long time ago. And this is no fabrication because it was public record and the whole world knew he abused his position to save his son's neck.

Onyourtoes: Mahathir, it is not for you to say and judge, we shall see whether you abused your power or not.

Don't worry, the people of this country believe in fairness and justice. We will give you ample opportunity to look at all the accusations and also to defend yourself.

You can't see your baloney; to you when you charged others, it is all based on facts and law. When others are about to charge you, it is false and abuse of power.

Whatsup: Incorrigible.

Dr M, look in the mirror, you're no angel
