Najib walks into a Palestinian minefield

YOURSAY 'The Palestinians, who have suffered for years and are used by everyone as a political football, can now add Najib to the list.'

Najib: Gaza visit not meddling in Palestine's affairs

your say Mushiro: Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has accused Najib of splitting the Palestinians by his visit to Gaza - this is a slap in the face of Malaysia.

After spending millions in humanitarian aid to Gaza and West bank, all PM Najib Razak got was an insult. Well, if Najib does not understand foreign relations, he should not attempt a move to gain Muslim votes in Malaysia.

OMG!!: In his quest to win some brownie points back home, Najib fails or couldn't bother to understand the intricacies of the Palestinian politics and the intense rivalry between the Hamas and Fatah.

He has not only stepped on the Palestinian landmines but also step on the toes of the Egyptian president who is trying very hard to establish his leadership position in the Middle East.

Indeed if he is not careful, Malaysia may earn the wrath of the United States and be labelled as a supporter of terrorist organisations.

Amused Malaysian: It's unlikely that little Malaysia's entreaties will have much effect on the peace process - more significant and powerful people have tried and failed.

But the headlines look good in the New Straits Times and The Star - they make it sound like Najib has single-handedly brought peace to the Middle East.

The Palestinians, who have suffered for years and are used by everyone as a political football, can now add Najib (and Malaysia) to the list.

Cocomomo: He talked about moderation but visited the ones who shoot rockets, killing innocent people. Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, who is more moderate and deserves support, has been shunned through this diplomatic blunder.

Lover Boy: Najib, the first thing I will do after being sorely embarrassed by the statement of President Abbas is to sack those useless diplomatic mission you have in the Middle East .

Whatever spin Bernama can do cannot arrest the damage done by your incompetent diplomats there. Sack them.

Fairnessforall: Don't be surprised next thing you know Palestinians will be given ICs (identity cards) just like the Bosnians, but our own Indians will still be treated like foreigners and will have to keep fighting to be recognised as Malaysians.

Thetruth: Najib is a leader of a country. He should know the protocol. He should have paid a visit to President Abbas first before going to Gaza, which is under the control of Hamas. President Abbas and Fatah is the legal government of Palestine.

In his eagerness to get votes for the 13th general election (GE13), it looks like he has forgotten this reality in the land of Palestine.

Borg Kinaulu: Mr PM, did you call the Palestinian president to seek his permission to visit Gaza? That's the least you can do if you are even a complete noob in international diplomacy.

Using the suffering of others for photo opportunities to boost your political fortunes at home is nothing short of despicable.

You have shown utter disrespect to the Palestinian people by your insulting act, just like when you pay poor Indians meagre allowances for them to come to your rallies, because if you had really taken care of them, they won't be bothered with that money.

Apapunboleh: Ibrahim Ali does Najib's dirty work at home while he tours Gaza to garner Muslim votes, visits the Vatican for Christian votes and sets up a Chinese university for Chinese votes.

All these from a scandalous and weak PM who even can't face a simple carpet seller.

Justice Kini: Back here, we sent troops overseas ill-equipped and with sub-standard weapons until our troops got their blankets from Nato forces.

What a shame that we spend almost RM8 billion annually yet we are using Third World weapons without even basic utilities. There's no issue with helping other countries, but serve the nation first. Charity begins at home.

Timothy: After Mindanao, Najib is trying his luck in Palestine. Maybe he is aiming for the Nobel Peace award.

Palestine President Abbas raps Najib's visit to Gaza

KitaAkanSiasat: Najib, if you want to work on the issue of reconciliation involving other countries, first, you have to look into the reconciliation of your own people. People are divided by religion and race due to your apartheid government policy in Malaysia.

Mirror On The Wall: Who the heck advised you or is advising you on all your political moves, Mr PM? Every move seems to be backfiring or being checkmated. You better hire new ones, those in touch with the reality on the ground.

Apache: Najib and BN have successfully divided Malaysians into racial and political lines instead of unifying them. This time, they are using their more than 50 years of experience to divide the Palestinians. Thus, never trust the Devil and his empty promises.

Whatsup: Whatever for is the PM visiting Gaza? No doubt he's an expert in dividing people, but how is he able to help others when he himself is in need of help?
