YOURSAY 'Mahathir has now fired the first salvo at Najib and expect the reaction to snowball until Najib is down and Muhyiddin moves up.'
Dr M: I didn't expect Najib to do worse than Pak Lah
Ferdtan:
The horse trading starts in Umno. Newly installed PM Najib Razak and his deputy Muhyiddin Yassin are out in the market wooing warlords and the ‘emperor' (ex-PM Dr Mahathir Mohamad) to gain favours to take over the crown of Umno president in the coming Umno general election expected at the end of the year.
Mahathir is also in the market to put his son, now Kedah MB, Mukhriz, in a good position, possibly as a running-mate as deputy president, either to Najib or Muhyiddin. That way Mahathir junior can be on the fast track to power before his father kicks the bucket as he is now 88 years old.
How many more years can Mahathir live? Mahathir, we tell you now when you are still alive, the way you behave at this moment, your legacies and whatever history would be written of you would not be pretty. You go the way of dictator like Philippine's Ferdinand Marcos.
JoanH: Mahathir is the real cause of BN doing worse in GE13. He spews racist venoms against the Chinese and he gets away with it.
His open support for the two Perkasa leaders led to the open rejection of non-Malays for BN. But obviously Mahathir's game plan is to oust Najib and prop up his man, that is the DPM.
Then Mahathir essentially gets to control the country once again. Perhaps Najib should beat Mahathir to it and slap a charge against the ex-PM.
Borg Kinaulu: "Constitutionally, he remains as the head of government as long as Umno supports him," Mahathir added.
That's the gem from the mouth of the ultimate king of Malaysia politics. At last, it has come to the surface that there is really no BN, no alliance. It's just Umno.
Mengxiang: Thank you, Mahathir, for campaigning for BN. Because of you, Pakatan secured a few more parliamentary seats, in particular Gelang Patah. They could not have succeeded on their own.
Sorry to hear about your good friend, Ibrahim Ali, losing his Pasir Mas parliamentary seat. You win some and you lose some, I guess.
You thought Najib would do better than Abdullah and I thought you were some very savvy politician. Me? I thought Najib would lose the election which he did in actual fact.
He should kiss your feet for initiating Project M. How else could he have "won".
Ano1nymous: The Det offensive has begun. Mahathir has now fired the first salvo at Najib and expect the reaction to snowball until Najib is down and Muhyiddin moves up.
Mukhriz who is building a power base in Kedah will go for deputy president of Umno and eventually be DPM and finally PM. This is Mahathir's grand plan. He made a lot of controversial statements before elections to make people angry and vote against BN so that Najib would not win big and would be easy to overthrow.
Things are going according to his game plan. Now do Malaysians want Muhyiddin in place of Najib and finally have Mukhriz as PM, and Mahathirism all over again.
Muhyiddin is a frightening option to Najib. So let us throw our support behind Najib to avoid a more nightmarish scenario. I think Mahathir must have arm-twisted Najib to put Mukhriz as MB so that Mukhriz can build his power base with Umno divisions in Kedah.
Mahashitla: Mahathir, there's no doubt that Pak Lah lost because of your contribution, but there is no denying that you contributed equally to Najib's dismal performance as well.
Your two Perkasa men, Ibrahim Ali and Zulkifli Noordin, were kicked out by the Malays and their participation in the GE affected BN negatively throughout the country.
Now don't try to put the carrot in front of DAP or try to buy their MPs. I strongly believe DAP people have strong principles and are not easily bought. And if they do, they may end up like MCA.
Gen2: We saw how Mahathir tore into Abdullah for the poor showing in GE12. So why is he so nice to Najib even though GE13 is worse for BN?
It looks like Mahathir has made a deal with Najib - make my son Kedah MB and I will not criticise you but you are on your own come the Umno convention.
Quigonbond: It is ominous. Dr M does not want to directly assault Najib, probably because he realises that Najib may still be popular (could have been part of Najib's strategy earlier on to shape this election as a "presidential" contest between him and Anwar) compared with anyone else from Umno.
But it is ominous nonetheless because he did not take responsibility having campaigned with Umno, and he left open the possibility of Najib being challenged by his proxy.
The jury will still be out there whether Najib is dead politician walking. In the days and months ahead, he will be forced to appease the Umno warlords by continuing the gravy train. This is fodder for Pakatan. Things are looking up for Pakatan.
Onyourtoes: Mahathir, do you want to know why you did not expect Najib to do worse than Abdullah in 2008. Your whole life is not in sync with Malaysia.
You do not know the frustration and the aspiration of the people. You only know how to enjoy your good life, exploiting and bullying others.
Hotsy Totsy: Of all the Umno members, the only person who is going to create tension is nobody else but Mahathir.
That night of the elections itself his mind has been working extra time how to bring down Najib. Dr M is up to his old tricks to further erode the support for BN.
As long as he is meddling with the government, there will be always suspicion, mistrust and tension among the races. This man is evil.
Mohican: For Najib, it is God's punishment for saying something in front of religious people, having tea with them and then stab them on the back.
Of course, they and others would have prayed hard, their prayers have now been heard. It is also the curse of the dead one (I don't have to say anything further).
Najib, coming from a mission school, should know by now the power of prayer and that even the tiniest prayer is heard in heaven.
Boom Boom Pow!: "These are the educated ones," said Mahathir regarding those Malays who voted for Pakatan.
He has indirectly insinuated the fact that the uneducated Malays, seemingly not the brighter ones, voted for BN. How ironic.
