Did the then-Selangor CPO lie in Kugan case?

YOURSAY 'If the IGP is a liar, then the court should recommend a dismissal to teach a lesson to anyone so that no VVIP can shoot their mouths off without thinking.'

'CPO should have stated cause of Kugan's death'

your say Ferdtan: It is strange that in Malaysia an officer who is not diligent in his work gets promoted to be the chief.

So what are the real criteria that the newly appointed IGP (inspector-general of police) Khalid Abu Bakar, formerly Selangor police chief, got promoted twice to deputy IGP and now IGP?

Here we have High Court judge VT Singham posing a relevant question to senior federal counsel Azizan Md Arshad. The question was about then-Selangor CPO (chief police officer) Khalid who at a press conference wrongly stated the cause of the death of A Kugan.

Even the senior federal counsel reluctantly had to agree that Khalid should have called a second PC to clarify and to correct the mistake in pinpointing the cause of death of Kugan. It is common sense to all that a second PC was needed to correct Khalid's first mistake in the name of fair play.

Now we have to question the mistake made by Khalid: Was it inadvertently or wilfully made? There is no need to say further, we the people know the answer.

MyFoot: If it is murder, then a death sentence should be imposed, scapegoat or not, so nobody, not even the police can be exempted.

Since they worked for the government, the government should pay compensation too for employing such despicable persons.

If the IGP is a liar, the court should recommend a dismissal to teach a lesson to anyone so that no VVIP or whatnot can shoot their mouths off without thinking. The public have had enough of such nonsense.

CQ Muar : Kugan's life had been unjustly snuffed out while under police custody. Just how many more such senseless crime will continue cause shudder to the nation and general public.

Are there no more law in our country, or is it the law of the jungle? Incident after incident, and the perpetrators seemed to get away unpunished, whilst the victims were inflicted with the most heinous of police brutality, ending in death.

In reality, they're more of law-breaker than law-enforcer. This cause fear in the hearts of many families each time one of their member ends up under remand.

The public outcry is loud and clear - when will such inhuman act by PDRM (Royal Malaysian Police) come to an end? Are they ‘untouchable'? How can we pride ourselves as developed come 2020 when such is the norm practised in our country? Who will the that person to 'bell the cat'?

We pray Kugan's mother will be justly compensated for her loss. God bless her.

Wira: PM Najib Razak, just say sorry on behalf of the government and pay Kugan's mother the 10,400 BR1Ms. Then work to improve the police force.

This will certainly gain you a lot more than 10,400 votes in GE14. Why allow this to be dragged to court and lose more credibility for Umno-BN?

Cala: Let us not descend into the rule of "barbaric law". If Malaysia is indeed democratic, every citizen should enjoy equal protection of law. His life is as precious as anybody else. He is innocent until proven guilty by a court of law, not by the police.

Now that it is beyond any reasonable doubt that poor Kugan died due to police's brutality, the court should return the verdict and punish whoever are the accused for their role in causing the death of Kugan.

Not to do so is to allow our rule of law to degenerate into the level of "barbaric law".

Clever Voter: The credibility of the PDRM is beyond repairs. Its current leadership lacks the right principles, and the ability to differentiate right from wrong.

No wonder the nation's moral indicator is in deficit, and the confidence in them as guardian of the security is equally bad. In many democracies, the government would have to resign.

Mahashitla: BN's reliance of the PDRM for political support has resulted in these unchecked police 'reign of terror'. Too many custodial deaths have happened and many have signs of being tortured to death.

Today, none has been charged for murder, though the authorities will always say that "there will not be a cover-up". What kind of human being will go to the extent of even stapling a person's ears?

Because of pathologists like Dr Abdul Karim Tajuddin and police officers like Khalid, those torturers and murderers find support in whatever they do.

How did Khalid get promoted so fast? Today he is IGP and heading a task force to investigate another custodial death, N Dharmendran. How can we trust him?

His actions in the past two weeks have already shown him more to be BN's political police chief, only acting against the opposition members.

Toffeesturn: How many more must die in custody, before the guilty are brought to book? How many IGPs will cover up, before we know the whole truth?

How many more lives the murderers need to take before we react? The answer, my friends, lies within all of us.
