Perkasa should dissolve and join Umno

YOURSAY 'If Perkasa wants to dabble in BN's internal politics they should, like they demanded Gerakan to do, dissolve and join BN as another arm of Umno.

Perkasa: Gerakan should dissolve and join MCA

your say, YoursayFerdtan: Who do Perkasa members think they are to advise Gerakan to dissolve and join MCA? Perkasa is only a pressure group and is not even a political party in the BN coalition. So who gives the right for its president Ibrahim Ali to voice his unasked and uncalled-for advice?

If Perkasa wants to dabble in BN's internal politics they should, like they demanded Gerakan to do, dissolve itself to join BN as another arm of Umno made up of 'qualified' Malays.

We unjustifiably give too much leverage and weight to a nonentity that did not win a single seat in Parliament in the last general election (despite fielding two candidates).

It is time that not only the mainstream and alternative media, but also the opposition parties and BN including PM Najib Razak, to ignore him and his party patron, Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

Their only hope to survive and sustain their existence is by making controversial statements to grab headlines to remain relevant. The only treatment for an attention-seeking child throwing tantrums is to ignore them.

Anonymous #40538199: Ibrahim Ali lost his incumbent seat in GE13. Perkasa VP Zulkifli Noordin was defeated in a Malay majority constituency. The son of the Perkasa patron's bid for VP of Umno was also defeated. Perkasa should bungkus (wrap up) and disappear now.

Dood: So says the man who was rejected by the public in the general election and which has zero elected representatives.

Myrights: Ibrahim lost his pants in the last GE13 in a Malay majority area, yet he thinks he speaks for the Malays. This guy is truly a delusional loser. He should look into the mirror first before threatening others with votes. He is nothing, if not for Umno and that racist ex-PM.

Cala: Under normal circumstances, when a political party has been reduced to ashes, no politician in his right mind will get involved. But why do the politicians in Gerakan and MCA behave so differently?

The answers lie in the incentive structures. Beyond the political structure comes the economic structure where both parties are the beneficiaries of crony capitalism. The bigwigs may lose the support of voters, but there are comfortable business entities to keep them happy.

Waste of time: Save your energy rather than bark at Ibrahim Ali. Perkasa was initiated with the support of a former PM who forgot his own roots. Leave them alone and just move on. It's immaterial what they bark.

One day we all will face the same fate. God is fair to all. God does not allow any single human being to live too long in the earth.

CiViC: Gerakan if you have any dignity left, just quit BN. MCA is in the same position as well. By any interpretation, Najib's "Chinese tsunami" remarks also mean that Chinese can make a difference in the political arena.

The only reason why Gerakan and MCA are not getting enough support is BN. So quit BN and start working for the Chinese community, I am sure both will do better in the next GE.

Bamboo: If MCA, Gerakan and MIC have any dignity left, these parties should have quit BN long ago. Unfortunately just for a few miserable unimportant ministerial and council posts, they choose to stay in BN.

Thus they have become accessories in abetting Umno plundering the national coffers - and getting some crumbs in the process. Let Umno stand alone, BN/Umno will die a natural death. But with spineless people leading MCA, Gerakan and MIC, fat hopes they will leave.

Lionking: Yes, Gerakan is a dead party and cannot stand on its own and will continue to depend on Umno or MCA. They must realise that the party carries no weight in any of the issues affecting us and can do nothing much about it too. So best to dissolve and let the members decide what they want to do.

It is embarrassing having this big convention when the party has hardly any representation in Parliament.

Abasir: Gerakan members should have known that if they choose to live near the open Umno sewer, they are bound to be hit by the stench, especially when the wind changes direction. Hopefully, fellows like former chief Koh Tsu Koon have not convinced the members that the stench is actually fragrant.

Shanandoah: MCA and Gerakan, you don't represent the Chinese anymore. Umno has achieved its objective of being the master race in the country. You are all irrelevant to them. This includes the MIC also.

Balek Cina and Balek India! You have become a nuisance to the Malays in this country. Don't be hypocrites and pretend you are needed by Umno Baru. Join DAP or PKR to claim your birthright.

Anonyxyz: Gerakan was created from a splinter MCA group, which enabled useless politicians like Lim Keng Yaik and Koh Tsu Koon to become irrelevant ministers.

By 2008, after enjoying years of support from an equally clueless Penang electorate, it started to disintegrate with a new awakening of the Penang Chinese which started the so-called Chinese tsunami in 2013 throughout Malaysia.

Perkasa has nothing to do with Gerakan's demise. Maybe it helped to bring the final nail to the coffin.

Thana55: Perkasa is doing Umno's dirty work. Whilst the public has dumped them, they serve their master (Umno) by perpetually stirring emotions so that the pressure on Umno with regards the issues that really matter is relieved. For all intents and purposes they are Umno. Specifically they are Umno's PR department.

Banzai: If I were a Gerakan member, I would propose a resolution to close the party. Let it be debated with sincerity by the members.

Myrights: Ibrahim lost his pants in the last GE13 in a Malay majority area, yet he thinks he speaks for Malays. This guy is truly a delusional loser. He should look into the mirror first before threatening others with votes. He is nothing if not for Umno and the racist ex-PM.

Ipohcrite: Perkasa's big wigs Ibrahim Ali and Zulkifli Noordin contested, but were big flops in GE13. So, as a case in point, Perkasa should just disband and join Umno if it is so actively interested in politics.

Or, as is the noble thing to do, both of them should resign their posts in Perkasa, instead of hanging on so pathetically and hypocritically, telling others what to do.

Gotcha: Perkasa should merge with Umno. Perkasa stands nowhere without Umno.
