Nothing smart ever comes out of ministers’ mouths

YOURSAY 'Najib sets low standards, and they consistently fail to achieve them.'

Kit Siang bays for blood of 'bungling' deputy minister

Lionking: It will be a shock if no action is taken against every one of them who have contributed to the debacle in MH370, nothing less of a sack is acceptable. Can the BN do that, or will they get promotions instead?

What really is beyond belief is why the BN, particularly Umno, is not able to see what is happening in the Malaysia political landscape. After this MAS incident, we have proven to the world how incompetent we are, and dare I say how stupid we can be.

A country with a so-called best education system in the world has produced countless jokers and sadly, they are concentrated in BN. Nothing very intelligent is ever spoken by almost all of the BN leaders.

Why can't they see all this? Do we all have to suffer for generations to come?

Slumdog: Prime Minister Najib Razak must have set low standards for his ministers and deputy ministers, and true to form, they consistently fail to achieve them.

Deputy Defence Minister Abdul Rahim Bakri is one such example. He is depriving some kampong of its village idiot.

Following in the style of Home Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi known for his thoughtless comments, when Abdul Rahim opens his mouth, it seems only to change whichever foot was previously in there.

Sabahan : This MP from Sabah, Abdul Rahim Bakri, thinks that he is in a coffee shop talking rubbish with his friends. Anyway, this is how Umno-BN MPs treats Parliament.

Telling lies and later saying they were just “assumptions”. He forgot that we have an international audience, and not the uninformed simple village folks he is used to addressing. He has proven himself to the whole world that he is the village idiot.

Born Free: Something is missing from our standard operating procedure on crisis management in the Defence Ministry and Prime Minister's Department. There are no checks and balances on making assumptions.

This wake-up call from MH370 is a testimony to our weaknesses. Has Malaysia failed to learn from the Lahat Datu incident? Is Malaysia prepared for another crisis after MH370?

Curi Satu Malaysia: If national security can be based on assumptions then can we assume that we are breeding thousands of toy soldiers in the armed forces and their artillery and equipment are all expensive toys that can be left without care, just like the famous missing F5 jet engine?

What a real joker and stupid 'minister' we have in the House. I believe my dog is better and more intelligent than he, as my dog has never failed to keep my compound free from strangers and stray cats.

Chris J : It's amazing how many stupid people they have in BN, especially in Umno. If we depend on these fools for national security, Malaysia would be taken by any neighbouring enemies within minutes and these people would not even know it.

NuckinFuts: I find Najib's silence throughout all these bumbling errors very suspicious. No one is held accountable for anything.

Malaysia has a prime minister who is mired in corruption and scandals. If, hypothetically, a superpower or a terrorist organisation decides to electronically hijack a MAS plane, it wouldn't take much to blackmail our PM to look the other way...

Gombak: Once again, our arrogant ministers are showing their true colours. We must ask why these ministers are so daring to say what they want to say without first running it through their brains.

Is it because they do not have brains or simply they could not care less? After all, they won't be penalised. They are so used to having a two-thirds majority for such a long time that they could not care less what they say.

James_3392: This is yet another example of structural problems deeply entrenched in our government, that the capability of ministers, senior civil servants is in serious deficit compared to the authority or position they hold. This MH370 crisis really bares them all.

Ramesh Rajaratnam: If certain members of the public can make threats, challenge certain ministers and continue to stoke racial sentiments outside Parliament, a minister talking rubbish within the security of privileged communication is no surprise at all.

Headhunter: In a tragic event like this, citizens would normally unite and give their fullest support to the government of the day. This is provided things are handled in a logical manner and transparently.

No one in their right mind would expect 100 percent efficiency. Hiccups are to be expected, especially when it involves so many parties and spread across international borders.

The Malaysian government unfortunately have messed things up as always. They assume that the international community would be like Malaysians who can be led by the nose and threatened with "shut up or else" mentality.

If anything, the tragedy has exposed the whole government machinery as a farce and the BN's race-based policy as its greatest failure.

Swipenter: Malaysians need a new breed of politicians who are clean, idealistic, articulate, intelligent, calm and able to think on their feet.

That means 90 percent of Umno-BN ministers and politicians and a sizeable percentage from the opposition have to retire from politics.

Fair and Open: The problem is actually our PM who does not dare to sack this deputy minister. He is either powerless, which is why these senseless ministers can continue with their stupidity.
