YOURSAY ‘There is no need for Khalid to pussyfoot around on the Bible issue.’

I was advised not to act on Bible issue, says MB

Hibiscus: Just instruct Selangor Islamic Religious Department (Jais) to return what which do not belong to them. There is no need for MB Khalid Ibrahim to pussyfoot around.

That the MB had sought advice from the attorney-general (AG) is like a goat asking a python if it is okay to get a hug from the latter. Why didn't he seek advice from his party leaders? Does he trust the AG more than his colleagues?

Aries46: First and foremost, the prudence and legality of the Jais action to raid and confiscate the holy book from a religious institution is in question when viewed against the 2009 cabinet resolution which duly resolved the Alkitab issue.

Secondly, the continued retention of the bibles indefinitely is an abuse and affront of the Bible Society of Malaysia (BSM) and the end beneficiaries of the religious text.

As the MB, Khalid ought to have acted with urgency in a matter that concerns the faith and pride of the Christians and the image of the Pakatan Rakyat state as an apparatus of a responsible and democratic multiracial governance.

But what we see instead is Khalid’s lackadaisical attitude and insensitivity that has allowed the issue to drag on as if a forgotten episode.

Khalid’s lame excuses now that the matter has been raised does not speak well of a CEO of a reform state that is expected to outdo the ills of its predecessor.

Odin: Khalid, the whole problem was created by Umno Baru. Only idiots and ‘the frogs under the coconut shell' wouldn't know that.

The AG is a tool of that party. Only idiots and ‘the frogs under the coconut shell' wouldn't know that. Since he is that, only idiots and ‘the frogs under the coconut shell' wouldn't know what his decision will be.

The people you consulted as well as you yourself cannot be idiots nor ‘frogs under the coconut shell'. Therefore, you all have no guts to do what is proper. You all are cowards of the lowest order.

At GE13, seven people very close to me voted for you. Three of them, in fact, flew all the way back to Malaysia at their own expense to cast their votes. At GE14, they shall - shall, not will - not.

Joker: Khalid, what 'law' did Jais and the police use to seize the bibles and to detain non-Muslims for questioning? Did BSM distribute bibles to Muslims? Is there any prove that could stand up in the precious court of law that you say you uphold?

Come on! Man up, YB Khalid. No one is perfect and we don’t expect you to be. You made a mistake. Just admit it, apologise and rectify by ordering Jais to return the bibles.

If Jais disobeys by claiming they take their orders from the sultan, then just say so. Let the rakyat be judge.

As it is, you are deemed to be unfair to non-Muslims and not upholding the highest law of the land - the constitution of Malaysia.

Rajakera: The MB's job is to follow the constitution. The secular law is the law. Jais is not the law. He is sitting on the fence and listening to the BN running dogs.

Rakyat-in-grief: I lost all my respect for Khalid. He is not fit to be the chief minister of a state. May be he is good at business; but that is not what is required for a politician.

PKR should replace him as soon as possible. Otherwise they will lose the support of a segment of their ardent supporters.

Anonymous_1371482984: What are the DAP exco members doing? The decision of Khalid represents the PKR's position on the Bible issue. Remaining silent is not an option. They must have the courage to do what is right.

Senior Citizen: Khalid, it is too late now. You have lost BSM and that means a whole lot of the Christian community. They are moving to Kuala Lumpur. What a shame.

You have allowed yourself to be throttled by BN bullies. You asked BSM to write to the AG and what did you expect the AG to do?

Onyourtoes: What state law? Why don't you ask whether your state law is consistent with the federal constitution, the supreme law of the land? Please don't give excuses anymore. I could have given better reasons than you if I want to.

These are all baloney - the party bosses wait for MB and the MB in turn waits for AG just like dogs chasing their own tails.

What favourable decision can you expect from the AG, Khalid?  How do you want the BSM to write (read beg) to the AG when it was Jais who raided and took away their bibles.

Awakened: Khalid, by making the excuse that you were advised by someone for your inaction to correct the wrong showed your lack of leadership in tackling an issue which is of great importance and interest to Malaysians.

You have lost my respect and the respect of many Malaysians, including Muslims. As a leader, you must be able to judge what is right and wrong.

For a Muslim authority to seize and confiscate the bibles of the Christians is obviously wrong. Why can't you see that?

Fair Play: Khalid, sorry to have to say this. Politically, you have goofed big time. As MB of the richest state, you can't afford to run with the fox and hunt with the hounds. And that pretty much summed up why the right-thinking rakyat were so riled up.

Headhunter: Since he so willing to receive advice from others instead of being his own man, it’s time his party also advise him to step down as MB.

Lightning: Let's face it, no matter who the Selangor MB is, little will be done relating to this issue because the extremist minority in this country is controlling the majority, and Umno condones such behaviour.
