For most M’sians, crime is real, not a perception

YOURSAY ‘Seputeh MP Teresa Kok, I’m glad you and your nieces are safe.’

Snatch thieves target Teresa outside family home

Don'tLeaveName: Seputeh MP Teresa Kok, I’m glad that you and your nieces were not hurt in this attempted snatch theft incident. If you were on the other side of the BN ship, the thieves would have been caught by now.

This is Malaysia. Just now I saw a police officer on a motorbike zoomed through a red light. Syabas, Malaysia boleh.

Cry, My Beloved Country: I’m glad you and your nieces are safe. The police will be investigating until kingdom come, buying time. You might even be charged with walking three abreast on the wrong side of the street, thus obstructing traffic.

Certainly you will be called in by the police repeatedly to give your statements but you are tough and will take it in your stride. Such is the stuff of leadership. Take care. God bless you and keep you safe.

Maju: Teresa Kok, it is good that they went for your necklace and left empty-handed. Luckily, the assailant was not Kinabatangan MP Bung Moktar Radin or Perkasa chief Ibrahim Ali, and if it had been, what would have happened?

YUNoAnon: Another case of perception, surely. It didn't happen to them, so this must be something isolated.

Hplooi: Unfortunately, when this happen to well-known personalities, it make the news. But when it happen to ordinary people like me and Malaysiakinians, it just become statistics.

A normally quiet neighbourhood like Damansara Jaya is seeing a rash of snatch thieves and roving motorcycle gangs.

Abasir: Inspector-general of police (IGP) Khalid Abu Bakar would probably say that Teresa Kok brought this on herself by walking on the street outside her family home with her nieces. Such carelessness provoked the two fellows who were passing by.

Home Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi may add that given the facts supported by the video, the police have good reason to act against Teresa and her nieces for provoking a crime.

Utusan Malaysia , Ikatan Muslimin Malaysia (Isma) and Malay rights group Perkasa would, for all we know, chip in to recommend preventive custody since we have a precedent.

Lucky Guys: What has happened to Malaysia? They're not even afraid of the police. They even have the guts to rob politicians and police officers. This is what you get when you concentrate on politics.

Doc: ‘Bodoh’ (stupid) snatch thieves. Want to make a bigger haul? Wait outside Umno politicians’ houses instead.

'48pct of Chinese youths not aware of MACC'

Multi Racial: After what happened to political aide Teoh Beng Hock, there is no way so many Chinese Malaysian youths are unaware of the existence of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).

It is more like MACC is not relevant in its role. When there is obvious corruption, the culprits got away and nobody is caught.

What happened to the Scorpene submarines, Port Klang Free Zone (PKFZ), Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 (KLIA2), cow condo and many more? If no big fish are charged and put into jail, the country might as well save the money and close MACC down.

If MACC wants to be relevant, they need to do what the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) of Hong Kong did. Until then, what is MACC? Malaysian Ants and Cockroaches Corporation?

Mob1900: Just like the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) and every other enforcement agency in this country, MACC is ineffective and politicised to the hilt.

Stop wasting taxpayers' money on these 'surveys' for recruitment, nobody wants to be an Umno tool.

Fair&Just: Beng Hock’s death was all over the news and the Chinese community, even small children, were aware about the cause and place of death and it was etched on their minds.

Some parents are advising their kids what to do when approached by so-called men in authority. So how not to know about MACC? Go figure.

Hero325: The truthful and righteous people are the poor people struggling to live from day to day. The ones that have so much time to talk about anti-corruption are no more than pretenders who have made some monies through crooked ways.

To stop corruption, rich people must live modestly, should not display their wealth, resist buying big cars and living in huge mansions. Can you do it ? If cannot, there’s no need to talk.

Supercession: Is there a point in knowing about the existence of MACC when MACC continues to pretend that it is not an arm of Umno and that corruption is not what Umno excels in?
