YOURSAY ‘It’s time to concentrate on fixing the country’s weaknesses.’

MCA to contest Bukit Gelugor

Ketuanan Rakyat: Let MCA contest under Bankrupt Nation (BN). Bukit Gelugor voters should make MCA (Malaysian Cronies Association of Umnoputras) lose their deposit. DAP had made its stand on hudud.

What about MCA, if Umnoputras decide to support hudud in Parliament? Talk big, they can. If their boss says support, they will do so with their tails between their legs. Let us see.

Malaysia Maju: Wasting public funds. All on ego trip. MCA is history. Save us all the elections rubbish, please. Time to concentrate on fixing the weaknesses of the country.

Now, even pirates are coming in regularly. Buses crashing every day. Crime is rampant. Corruption is rampant. Traffic is horrendous. Come on MCA, get real. You can't win. Don't waste taxpayers’ money.

Changeagent: Look no further, Chua Tee Yong. Your father Chua Soi Lek is the man for MCA! Karpal Singh may have been the ‘Tiger of Jelutong’, but your father is the ‘Tiger Woods of Malaysia’! I know what I'm talking about. I've seen his videos.

Not Smart: Did your father prompt you to announce that MCA will challenge for the seat, before you had obtained the blessings from your current bosses, Liow Tiong Lai and Wee Ka Siong?

CiViC: BN is too arrogant to opt out from the by-election, but then again, not so stupid as to put an Umno candidate to be embarrassed. So, the next best choice to field some fool from MCA, where they are already accustomed to losing. Either way, Umno doesn't lose.

Captain America: Your father should contest and "test the waters" to decide whether the MCA should close shop or not. How many by-elections must you all lose to decide when to close shop? And the rakyat will get some goodies... Umno, MIC and MCA branch chairpersons can make some fast money.

Fair Play: Liow is smart. He is sending this young spring chicken to the slaughterhouse. Five minutes of glory in making this announcement, a lifetime in misery having to live with this fiasco - assuming their candidate loses the deposit.

Idon'tlikekangkung: Come on in, MCA, the tigers here need some meat. There's going to be a mauling here for the BN scrooges. They can cheat all they want, bribe all they want, but they will still lose. Heck, might as well put (pro-BN commenter) Ranjit Singh there as the BN candidate.

For Our Next Generation: ChuaTee Yong, take this sure-win suggestion from us: during the campaign period, every night, do give free dinners to the voters especially the Chinese, who make up 74.5 percent of the voters, and don't forget lucky draws with a few motorbikes as prizes.

During the 13th general election (GE13), I had reluctantly accepted a few MCA T-shirts, but realised later the shirts are suitable for cleaning cars and the floor of our bathroom. More T-shirts, please.

Starwars: A lot of clamouring going on in the DAP for the seat. (Chief Minister Lim) Guan Eng’s sister is being contemplated as a candidate and of course Chow Kon Yeow, being the Penang DAP chairperson, is pushing for his ally to be a candidate. The day Karpal Singh died, the power struggle began.

Muhibbah: MCA has every right to contest, though knowingly it will be a Waterloo for them. Will MCA put in a scapegoat candidate rather than someone 'formidable', if they ever have any? At the end of the day, MCA will declare 'victory' as they may garner some 'minute votes'.

Casey919: There is a signboard at the entrance to Bukit Gelugor that reads, "No Dogs Allowed".

S'gor MCA shows receipts for 'illegal water sales'

ONG: 1,000 litres at RM2.07 works out to 0.2 sen per litre. If filtered water is sold in shops and supermarkets for RM1 per litre, this works out to be 500 times the cost being paid to Syabas for the unfiltered water.

Besides, you have to spend on transportation to buy such water. Water sold to the industrial community at prices up to only 23 times more than what is paid to Syabas is cheap, more so when considering that the water is delivered to consumers.

MCA is becoming even more stupid, not knowing that most of the costs to the middlemen supplier is not the cost of water but overhead costs such as transportation, administration, etc.

Fourtan: This is 'willing seller, willing buyer'. Think about it, is there really anything illegal? If anything, Syabas brought this unto itself. To add, if we don't conserve and ration water now, do we wanna take a risk with an impending drought? Come on, don't play politics with water!

Mushiro: Why can't MCA report to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) and provide the proof? Why try to gain political mileage through the press? And why is it that MACC is not even aware of this when MCA seems to know a lot?

Anonymous #85701391: Good, MCA, finally you found something wrong to right. Hold on to your bite, don't let go your teeth until you draw blood! If you can't do this to a Pakatan state government which is being held to ransom by Umno/BN, then please close shop!

Mytwosensworth: The concessionaires who cannot supply the water to consumers should be penalised and compensate the end-users, domestic or otherwise.

Onyourtoes: As I mentioned in another thread, you just watch. Soon there will be bribery, profiteering and abuse of power in the name of water rationing.

Nippon: Selangor MCA information bureau deputy chief Tan Bok Koon, it is either you are stupid or you are totally an idiot. Have you factored in the highway toll, diesel, salaries of workers, office space, phone charges, etc? If you have not then just shut up. If not, how to do business? If not, the buyer of water can buy its own tanker and buy water from Syabas.

Thinkingmachine: Get rid of Syabas and let water come under the jurisdiction of the state. Let them be answerable to the voters. Basic human amenities should never be privatised. Somehow somebody learns new tricks and starts cheating at the expense of the rakyat.

Food for thought: Yes, MCA, keep spitting into the wind.
