Don't exult over Christian CDs ruling just yet

YOURSAY 'This is not a win for constitutional rights. The judgment is just about...'

Court orders return of confiscated Christian CDs

Wiser: Six years for Sarawakian Jill Ireland to get her Christian CDs back. This is an absolute disgrace to our judiciary system.

Imagine waiting six years for a judgment, It shows how progressive Malaysia is.

Malaysia ABU: This is not a win for constitutional rights. The judgment is just about an error done which was not according to "procedure".

What if the order came from the home minister, which followed all the needed "procedures"?

What if one fine day, the home minister decides to give an order to confiscate or ban all Christian materials that contain the word 'Allah'?

UntaRelak: Will the eight CDs be compensated for being wrongfully confiscated and 'imprisoned' for six silent years?

Tohbeng: Pornographic CDs are easily available here, but the government does nothing. Christian CDs preach peace but the government makes it a high priority. Use some brains, please.

The Mask: Well, at least it's a beginning. If nothing happens (for example, there is no appeal) there will probably be peace and calm.

However, if they want to test the Almighty, then go ahead and appeal and we will see what will happen next. You have been warned.

Fair Play : The Mask, I agree with you. Changes come in baby steps, not giant stride.

Anti Dog: This is just a show (wayang) of fairness in our jurisdiction. In the end, the higher courts will reverse the decision, just wait and see.

Doc: The Appeals Court will overthrow the High Court verdict and Federal Court will deny its appeal. This sandiwara will play out.

SusahKes: Well, some good news in the midst of all the muddle, but forget not; there is the Court of Appeal, or the 'precedent' of not abiding by court rulings. Malaysia boleh, after all.

MacMac : The same script will be played again. Our planes are being shot off the skies and here we have religious bigots wearing T-shirts and assembling in front of the court house (over the use of 'Allah'). Are we heading the Isis way? Only God knows.

KDP: Nothing ends until all these institutions are put to sleep since they cannot be trusted to stay out of the affairs of society operating on a secular foundation. Of all institutions, they are the least trustworthy and of no service to humanity.

They have made no sustained positive impact in the field of education, sciences and medicine in the lives of ordinary people. They are the antitheses of the march of man into true freedom that is bound by reason.

Greenie: What's the point of this verdict? The religious authorities are just going to confiscate them again.

Argonist: Nothing changes, as it is a matter of time before a correction will be made so that the government's policy of bigotry will remain.

MingXiang: Indeed, as they say, it ain't over till it's over.

Attacks on Ambiga justify Negara-Ku, says Zaid

FutureMalaysians: Negara-Ku chairperson Zaid Kamaruddin, I wholeheartedly support you and the cause because I feel Malaysia should emulate former PM Tunku Abdul Rahman.

He had been the father of the nation, loving and caring for all. He would have really listened to all of us.

Headhunter: The majority are with you, Negara-Ku. Don't be intimated by a bunch of losers who are bent on destroying your good intentions to bring peace and harmony to the country.

Put it this way, we need you very much, more than we need them.

Rick: How I wish there are more Malay leaders like Zaid in this country. Good job, Zaid, but be prepared for more unintelligent bigots making stupid remarks and accusations.

Ramachandran Muniandy: What is wrong with the name Negara-Ku? It means 'My Country'! Or is this also included in the 'Allah' ban list? Before anyone talks, you'd better go and check where the word comes from.

It's a Hindu word, so it belongs to Ambiga Sreenevasan more than to the Muslim NGOs. As Hinduism is a generous religion, we don't restrict others from using our language or writings to spread their culture.

Religion belongs to the Almighty, not to groups or any individual.

JMC: Ambiga is a woman of great honour and integrity who is committed to make Malaysia a better place for all. She has proven this beyond doubt many times over. Whatever she says or does, most Malaysians believe will be for the good of the country.

So please stop castigating a loyal citizen for doing good. Instead, those criticising her should reflect on what good they are doing for the nation and the country.

Mohgui: Clearly Ikatan Muslimin Malaysia (Isma), Perkasa and all these idiotic Islamic NGOs are nothing but cowards. They attack those who don't attack back.

They feel great in doing what they do, probably because they know they have backing from Umno.

Paul Warren: The voice of the silent majority is being made relevant through Negara-Ku. Nazism succeeded because the majority Germans remained silent.

The minority extremist groups operate on the premise and the hope that the majority will not catch on to their insidious designs on the whole population. So they've got no choice but to demonise Negara-Ku and Ambiga.

Note that they are not demonising the prominent Malay leaders. Which means they are only interested in influencing the Malay population to reject Negara-Ku.
