YOURSAY ‘Without DAP backing, PAS cannot claim the MB’s post.’

PAS deals a blow to PKR, Hadi backs Khalid

Fair Play: For the right-thinking rakyat, here is something to really think hard, long and deep.

First, the dream of a better tomorrow (alternative federal government with PAS/PKR/DAP) was very pleasant while it lasted.

Second, you really could not lose something that you don't have in the first place. The break-up of Pakatan Rakyat coalition is about to begin or had already begun.

The breakdown of seats in the Selangor state assembly is 15:15:14:12 for PAS, DAP, PKR and Umno in that order.

Assuming PAS fully backs MB Khalid Ibrahim and no other PKR or DAP Adun changes side, the balance of power is 28 versus 28 (DAP/PKR vs PAS/Umno/Khalid). Neither side could form the state government.

Therefore, a snap election is on the cards. If I were both PKR leader Anwar Ibrahim and DAP, I would go for broke, knowing that Pakatan is already dead either now or perhaps in GE14.

As the saying goes - the more things change, the more they remain the same.

Casey: When a sitting prime minister of a country losses the support of the majority of his own political party, it's time for him to go.

Even ex-PMs, Mahathir Mohamad and Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, stepped down in 2003 and 2009 respectively without serving their full term in office.

By resorting to sabotage, divisive ruse and propaganda, Khalid has shown that he is just a self-serving recalcitrant who would cling to power regardless of the larger interest.

Gerard Lourdesamy: Better Khalid than PAS. PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang is wrong to blame PKR for having one less seat than PAS because it was PAS that orchestrated the defeat of the PKR candidate in Kota Damansara by fielding its own candidate to split the Malay vote.

Further without the endorsement of DAP, PAS cannot claim the MB’s post in Selangor. After the fiasco in Kedah which has relegated PAS to the opposition benches for perhaps the next 50 years, PAS obviously does not have many credible candidates to be MB, let alone PM.

Malays even in the rural areas are turning away from PAS because at least Umno, despite its corruption, can still bring development and a decent standard of living to these people.

PAS has been winning seats in semi-rural and urban seats due entirely to the Chinese and Indians. If PKR wants Khalid out whether for right or wrong reasons, that is their prerogative. PAS as a coalition partner must oblige, just like the DAP.

The issue here is the gender of PKR president Wan Azizah Wan Ismail. Perhaps the PKR can find a compromise candidate for MB.

Tao Student: Perhaps PKR should propose its deputy president, Azmin Ali, for the MB’s post. Hopefully this will get support from both PAS and DAP and put an end to the matter.

I believe the longer this issue continues, the greater damage it does to Pakatan, particularly in Selangor. I personally don’t think Wan Azizah is the ideal candidate for next Selangor MB.

Fernz: Did PKR and PAS decide who in Penang be chief minister and did PKR and DAP decide who in Kelantan be menteri besar?

DAP and PAS have already agreed that PKR would have the MB's post in Selangor. Having agreed on that, PKR has only to inform them as a matter of courtesy that it intends to change the MB.

DAP and PAS have no say in the matter of who becomes MB in Selangor from PKR. That's an internal matter for PKR to decide.

There should be the principle in this matter. Instead, every Tom, Dick and Harry is jumping on the bandwagon with all sorts of comments and demands.

Sleepy: I see that PAS is playing smart. One of the issues used to remove Khalid is religion. PAS wants to avoid this religious issue by "supporting" him. Good move.

Bluemountains: This is only Abdul Hadi's view and it doesn't really matters. What matters is the decision of the PAS central committee. Hadi is making his view public with the intention of influencing the central committee's decision and this is unbecoming of a leader.

On record, he has gone against Pakatan policy by having secret meetings with Umno post-GE 2008; and fielding a PAS candidate to stand against PKR in Kota Damansara. Such type of leader is definitely a hindrance to Pakatan.

Proarte: Khalid has never abused the Islamic card unlike Anwar and his family. Unfortunately Azizah is widely seen as a proxy of the arch fraud and chameleon Anwar. The fact is that she is the president of a party in disarray.

What is Azizah's position on the Bible issue? What is Azizah's position on freedom of worship? Does Azizah believe that the downing of MH17 was due to Allah's wrath?

She, like her husband, mixes Islamic rhetoric  with her political comments, so how different is her view of Islam from that of PAS and Hadi? What has Azizah done or said to make us convinced that she will be a better leader than Khalid?

She is a reluctant politician who was thrust into politics as a 'stand in' for her husband. She has never articulated her vision for Malaysia. Her commitment to equal religious and human rights is unknown and untested.

If she can articulate her vision for Selangor and why she would make a better MB than Khalid, it is only then she be given a chance to challenge Khalid.

Isana: One term in Terengganu and one term on Kedah. Now in Selangor, are PAS trying to hand the state back to BN? Hopefully PAS spiritual leader Nik Aziz Nik Mat can knock some sense back into Hadi.

Banzai: Dissolve the state assembly and have a state election. I bet PAS will be thrown out. Better to bite the bullet now than to be held to ransom by PAS.
