YOURSAY ‘Shuhaimi is either been overly sensitive or has ulterior motive.’

Don't question our loyalty, PKR rep tells Rafizi

Ferdtan: Sri Muda assemblyperson Shuhaimi Shafiei, why are you so sensitive? We agree completely with the pre-empt statement from PKR vice-president Rafizi Ramli who called on all party representatives in Selangor to declare that they are not interested to be nominated for the post of Selangor MB.

That way it may prevent PAS from jeopardising PKR's and DAP's plan of submitting one name - Wan Azizah Wan Ismail. What is wrong in that?

If PKR Youth chief Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad, a deputy speaker of the House, can come out in public to decline the purported offer from PAS, why can't you, Shuhaimi and the rest, do the same?

Have you an agenda of your own? Or are you reserving that opportunity for another (most will know who) representative to take over, if proposed by PAS?

We have seen 'kataks' (defectors) before, and they mostly came from PKR. Therefore we are wary of representatives like you, Shuhaimi, who do not want to openly state or reiterate your support.

The scenario has changed slightly, so what's wrong to re-state your loyalty again? Is it so insulting? In fact, you should applaud the statement of Razifi, who has the foresight to give timely advice to fellow party members.

We know many politicians are there not for the people but to make money and we hope, Shuhaimi, you are not one of them.

Just curious, do you have any ulterior motive that drove you to come out in the open (when solidarity is important in this moment of party/coalition crisis) to criticise a senior member of your party?

Shuhaimi, with this criticism of yours, not only the party but the people of Selangor, are watching with trepidation exactly what your real intention is.

Pemerhati: Rafizi has made a reasonable request to overcome the constitutional problem created by the sultan. Previously the PKR assemblypersons only signed statutory declarations supporting Azizah but they did not say that they were not interested in the MB’s post.

Since PAS says that they will only give the names of PKR members for the sultan’s consideration, the sultan will have no choice but to appoint Azizah as the MB if all the other PKR assemblypersons declare that they do not wish to be considered for the post.

Any PKR assemblyman who strongly objects to this very reasonable and smart request by Rafizi might have some ulterior motive.

Could Suhaimi be sending a signal to someone that he is prepared to consider all reasonable offers to become a frog?

J Ng: Shuhaimi is either been overly sensitive or has an ulterior motive. Rafizi's call for PKR Aduns (state assemblypersons) to openly decline nomination is most apt to resolve the crisis.

It should be done now, before names are submitted to the sultan. This is the least PKR and DAP Aduns should do to show its loyalty to the public who voted them.

In fact, PKR deputy president Azmin Ali should be the most appropriate person to start this move.

??: Shuhami, blame PAS, not Rafizi. Azmin signed the SD (statutory declaration) and openly declared support for Kak Wan, while PAS is insisting to submit his name. I view it as a harmless statement from Rafizi. Don't be sensitive. PAS might submit your name now.

Jiminy Qrikert: Suhaimi is from old-school Umno who is probably not yet totally free of his past ‘ketuanan Melayu’ mindset. It is often manifested in 'don't challenge the status quo' outbursts so typical of Umno. And often directed at non-Malays.

Rafizi on the other hand is a new generation thinker who challenges the norm, including tearing apart the fallacy of superiority of one race over others, especially when that race is poorer, more backward, less educated, less exposed and far more parochial in perspectives and understanding.

Suhaimi is ‘jaguh kampung’ (village champion). Rafizi is the future of Pakatan and Malaysia.

Dr Suresh Kuti: Questions to the Azmin and Suhaimi gang:

1. Why don't you want to decline the offer by PAS to become MB even though your party has decided to support Wan Azizah?

2. Why did Azmin keep negotiating with PAS?

3. Is it true Azmin submitted his name for MB on his own after GE13 to the palace without PKR consent?

SSDhaliwal: I find nothing wrong with Rafizi's statement - it was a call to show undivided support for Wan Azizah and also to show the sultan that he has no real alternative than to consent to the party's and people's choice.

This is merely a pre-emptive move designed to check mate any potential backdoor deals.

Headhunter: To say that all representatives are loyal to the party is far-fetched. Just look at outgoing Selangor MB Khalid Ibrahim and you know what I'm saying.

If enough money is offered, at least some of them will jump ship without any shame or guilt. That goes for any party in the country.
