YOURSAY 'Whether it prefers to be equal partner in Pakatan or a concubine in BN.'

Ex-PAS leader: Pakatan's future with PAS and DAP

ConstitutionIsSupreme: I feel that former PAS information chief Subky Latiff's comment has finally nailed the strategy and intention of PAS president Hadi Awang and the ulama, i.e. Hadi and the ulama are very concerned about the increased influence of PKR among the Malays as this is seen as a threat to PAS to spread their power beyond Kelantan.

Hence the calculated move to destroy PKR's base in Selangor; without the MB post in Selangor, PKR will end up as an unimportant ally in Pakatan Rakyat. DAP can never be a threat to PAS in the rural areas.

This strategy sounds good for PAS but is it not a "syiok sendiri" plan? A Pakatan without PKR will destroy DAP instantly.

What's New?: Subky, there may be some truth in what you said, but with a head like Hadi and the unstable ulama conservatives, DAP will be playing with fire.

At the end of the day, the DAP leadership has to be fully convinced that PAS is a reliable and honest partner.

Hope: This is a down-to-earth opinion and it hits right on the spot. The only problem is, if PAS is still stuck in the mentality of 'ulama know best' and racial supremacy, how can DAP continue the relationship with PAS?

The ulama in PAS regard the Erdorgan gang as unacceptable. But again look at what Turkey's Erdogans have done for their country.

Baiyuensheng: Good write-up, and it reflects my sentiments. PAS is moving towards Umno extremism and its Malay ‘ketuanan’ concept abandoning fairness and justice, and PKR is still not stable as an alternative to the majority moderate Malay base. And DAP is too Chinese.

Aziz Kader: Subky you are wrong. PAS cannot get full support from non-Muslims as well Muslims themselves. PAS has run Kelantan for over 20 years and cries for oil royalties, but it cannot show how Islamic administration can do better than a secular system.

Kelantan's economy is not as good as Penang's. Ulama never use their brains on how to develop the economy or social welfare without depending on natural resources.

By right, Kelantan should prove that Islamic administration can do better, and can generate an economy without sin taxes, but it has failed.

Malaccan: Subky speaks the same divide-and-rule language as BN. With the open disagreement between PAS and its partners in Pakatan, Subky attempts to rewrite the fault lines as one that is between PKR and others.

He omits and ignores the fact that PKR and DAP have stuck to the principles that brought them together, unlike PAS under its current leadership. That PAS has betrayed its partners so easily will not be quickly forgotten.

Subky forgets the fact is all three parties are as important for different reasons. PKR has captured the nation's imagination of a nation without racial divide, while DAP has shown substance to its Malaysian Malaysia.

PAS is still struggling whether it prefers to be an equal partner in Pakatan or a concubine in BN. PAS grassroots are likewise enthralled by the promise of reform and a nation united and led by Anwar.

In his place, another must rise, even if it is from among PAS leaders who share similar magnanimity and statesmanship. Then the leader who comes in Anwar's mould may be the death knell of PAS in its current form.

I Wonder?: DAP needs only loyal and moderate Malay partners, regardless of which party they are from.

All the Pakatan supporters have pledged to never ever trust PAS leaders like Hadi Awang and his syura gang, who are chauvinists and fanatics with no honour, principle and soul, and are backstabbing partners and supporters.

Negarawan: No non-Muslim in his right mind will support PAS or any party affiliated with PAS. PAS has shown itself to be a racial and religious extremist.

Now that some PAS leaders are also openly condoning the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant's (Isis) activities, it is bordering on being an Islamic terrorism backer.

Watchtower: I do not agree with Subky. Good principles and values like integrity, honesty loyalty are far more important than having lots of grassroots support. If the leaders is wobbly, the grassroots following them would be wobbly too.

MalaysiaMyhome: With the clerics leading them nowhere, PAS is now looking for scapegoat by blaming PKR's Anwar for their problems. Without Anwar's moderate image which PAS continues to leverage on, many non-Malays would not have voted for PAS in GE13.

The truth is all three Pakatan parties are important. They need one another. They have proven that the alliance can work when it captured 52 percent of the popular votes at GE13.

What is needed now is for PAS to stick together with PKR and DAP in the appointment of the Selangor MB. Hadi must not backstab. He must be a team player.

RZC: If this is the way the three Pakatan parties are going to move forward, they will become a race-based party exactly like Umno, MIC and MCA, which Malaysians are trying to move away from.

If voters are still going to vote on racial lines as suggested by Subky, then the voters need to be educated further. The problem with the old leaders is they hold on to the same archaic thinking, as they are bankrupt (or frightened) of new ideas.

DAP and PKR are getting the strategy right but PAS is not. Putrajaya is not the sole and ‘be all and end all’ goal. Putrajaya must be won with equality, respect and fairness for all citizens of this country.
