IGP’s stay order makes mockery of justice system

YOURSAY ‘Clearly, the IGP is trying to show who the real boss is.’

IGP dodges contempt with new stay order

Negarawan: Young children's life and their future are at stake here, and depriving them of their mother's love and care is wrong.

There is clearly a religious bias in the actions of the IGP (inspector-general of police) and AG (attorney-general), both of whom seem to be protecting each other.

Is there no recourse for justice for non-Muslims in this country in custodial cases involving Muslim spouses?

But at the end of the day, truth will prevail and God's justice will be served. The wrongful, selfish, and cruel actions of the IGP, AG, and those responsible in government will not escape the ultimate karmic law.

ACR: This practice of issuing ex-parte injunctions by a single apex court judge in public interest cases should stop. It makes a mockery of the administration of justice in this country.

Multi Racial: Basically I don't see any reason for the Court of Appeal judge to allow a stay of execution.

Why did the IGP refuse to act on the court order (compelling him to arrest K Pathmanathan @ Mohamad Ridhuan Abdullah)? What is so difficult for him to get his men to carry out the duty?

Clearly, he is trying to show who the real boss is.

Fernz: What's the justification for the stay order? The court cannot be party to an illegality.

Malaysian 53: Is this the judiciary we have to rely on to save the country from abuse of the Sedition Act, S Ambiga?

Doomed when we have judges such as Aziah Ali sitting as a single judge and ruling ex-parte. What a shame on the part of the AG to force these underhand tactics.

Boonpou: I am glad I am not studying law in Malaysia. My heart goes out to all the law students in this country. All these courts procedures are really giving me a headache.

By the way, I have a PhD in the social science but apparently that is not enough for me to understand all the neologisms of what is "legally" happening in so many judicial cases in Malaysia.

Speaking Sense: What is happening to this country? If the law cannot protect weak people like us against the powerful, what hope do we have as citizens? Where did we lose values such as fair play, justice, compassion and honour?

P Dev Anand Pillai: If a lone judge can decide on this stay order at the appellate level, then there is nothing much that we can hope for anymore.

It all depends on the people - if they can stomach this, it will continue unabated for a long time to come.

Basically: Excellent, now if the police do not feel like they want to arrest any person, the AG can just get a stay order.

Prayer bashing pro-Pakatan leaders raises stir

Negarawan: PAS is a very dangerous party and must not be allowed to take on the helm of government.

PAS is so ‘drunk’ by Islamisation that they can even think of praying to God to inflict harm on others. What type of madness is this?

The PAS muktamar seems to be an eye opener with the party’s open declaration of support for ISIS (Islamic State in Iraq and Syria), a terrorist army responsible for inhumane killing of thousands of innocent Muslims, Christians and other minorities, including defenseless women and children.

No Muslim or non-Muslim in his/her right mind will vote for PAS or any party affiliated with PAS.

Ourvotesdecide: Abusing the holy name of God and religion for one's personal political agenda against those who differs from one's views and opinion will have repercussions, especially divine intervention and punishment.

How can these ulama insist that Pakatan Rakyat respect the decision of the authority when the authority does not follow the constitution?

Kawak: Now, we can see the true colours of PAS members. It is only when under pressure and under unfavourable conditions that we see the real character of PAS members, particularly those from the ulama group.

I will think twice next time to vote for PAS again.

Malaysian 53: It looks like this is the Islam as practised by the ulama faction of PAS. They will be rejected by the majority of the Muslims and I cannot understand why the leadership condone such acts from the delegates.

Is it in the name of Islam that they are allowed to use prayers to run down people?

Drngsc: What has become of PAS? Using prayer to bash opponents? This must be a first at any political assembly. Even Umno doesn't do this. PAS, what has become of you?

Not Smart: At this stage, the behaviour of PAS delegates are far worse than that of the Umno delegates. Full stop.
