YOURSAY ‘Under Hadi Awang, PAS has become the Umno sidekick.’

'PAS central committee never agreed to hudud bill'

Pemerhati: PAS revealed its true colours during the Selangor MB crisis which was caused by Abdul Khalid Ibrahim’s disgraceful actions.

PAS’ aim is to gain respectability and votes by aligning itself to PKR and DAP and then look for a suitable opportunity to grab power even if it requires them to dump their current allies and form an alliance with Umno.

PKR and DAP continue their alliance with PAS at their own peril. This is because if Pakatan Rakyat wins the next elections, and if PAS and BN together have a majority, PAS would almost certainly link up with BN if Umno agrees to PAS’s demand for the PM’s and other top ministerial posts.

The top Umno leaders, fearful of being brought to justice by Pakatan, are unlikely to refuse that demand.

Asitis: Here we go again: the tension between the progressives and the conservatives within PAS.

PAS is like a pair of conjoined twins. Big brother wants to go north while small brother wants to go south. So they keep pulling each other in their desired direction. So one moment they go north, then suddenly they go south depending on who is stronger at that time.

To bystanders watching them, they wonder whether the twins want to go north or south. Can't they make up their mind? If you are travelling with them, they will only slow you down with their indecisiveness.

The best thing to do is to abandon them and travel alone. Got it, PKR and DAP? Abandon them. They are trouble.

Dont Just Talk: What is the point of having PAS central committee when the PAS president and Kelantan PAS leaders can do anything they want?

Yet PAS want to have Abdul Hadi Awang as prime minister when Pakatan wins the GE. What a joke.

Flamescanner: Floods are raging in Kelantan... and PAS is busy talking about a criminal law enactment?

Where are the jokers who might suggest that this is punishment meted out by the Lord Almighty on his people for using his name in vain?

What is the punishment for dereliction of duty according to hudud? Please apply it here. What is the punishment for lying, as discussed in this news report. Please apply it here.

Use this as a test case of hudud application. Show us the rakyat what happens to politicians who lie/cheat/oppress/’goyang kaki’. Make an example of the leaders first, then you can preach to us, the rakyat.

Kim Quek: This looks like another clandestine operation by the secretive grandmaster, by-passing/ignoring the party’s central committee - not unlike the fiasco of the Selangor MB episode.

For how long can the party continue to function without even a semblance of democratic principles?

BH Yap: Yes, the Great Leader in PAS has again bypassed the central committee and everyone else to implement his personal agenda. Such one-man shows will create chaos in the party.

Maybe that's what he wants. Maybe that's what BN wants of him?

Hank Marvin: PAS under Abdul Hadi Awang is a pale shadow of the once strong party led by Fadzil Noor. Under Hadi Awang, PAS has become the Umno sidekick.

The funny part is way back in late 1980s, Hadi Awang insinuated that Umno members were infidels.

Ferdtan: What is happening to PAS? The situation in the party is chaotic though in a muted way. Surely there are opposing views among their leaders but they are not forthcoming; could it be fear of breaking up the party?

Exactly who is in control of the party? Why allow the ulama faction, with the support of the president, to cause such irreparable harm to Pakatan unity and their coalition’s political agreements by wanting to table the hudud laws in the state without any consultation with the partners?

Why PAS is now rushing through the unplanned special state assembly sitting on Dec 29 when the issue was decade old? Why the hurry?

We believe this is political. There must be a power struggle in PAS between the ulamas led by president Hadi and the ‘progressives’. The latter consists of the majority of the central committee members led by deputy president Mohamad Sabu.

The hudud issue was obviously to put the party moderates on the defensive; not caring whether this may be the death knell of Pakatan coalition.

The impression PAS state deputy commissioner and deputy MB Mohd Amar gave when he made the announcement was that he had the support of all. He was pre-empting the issue, even surprised his party members, with its finality of the issue.

Now three central committee members - Mujahid Yusof Rawa, Dr Hatta Ramli and another unnamed member - contradicted him to say that the issue was not even discussed by the central committee.

Even PAS information chief Mahfuz Omar was clueless about the whole issue. Hadi’s man Mohd Amar said it did, so who is lying?

And he had a cheek in his interview with Malaysiakini to promise to all Malaysians that they would not be overzealous on hudud.

That is one promise we shall never trust - especially coming from the PAS ulama led by their flip-flop president .

SusahKes:

So, what you're now revealing is that the Kelantan PAS leaders stepped out of their boundary? Then how can we believe these leaders when they tell us that they will be fair in their application of hudud?
