YOURSAY ‘Belief in God and prayer must be followed by appropriate action.’

K'tan MB trapped at home, apologises to constituents

Otak-otak: Leadership by example... leadership in PAS only means pray, blame, pray and blame. When the MAS incidents happened this year, they blamed the stewardesses’ uniform, when there was a drought season, they prayed for the rain to fall.

With the worst flooding ever in the east coast now, they blame it on not implementing hudud! So, are we going to see our country rotting away with such leadership who just pray and blame?

Cocomomo: Don't blame God for poor planning and administration. Belief in God and prayer must be followed by appropriate action.

The resources of the state must be properly used to address the needs of the people. God has provided the resources, but if you as the head of the government do not make use of these resources, it is your fault.

You - and not God - bear the responsibility for the people’s misery. You clowns focus on the wrong matters like hudud, clothing and entertainment. Address the well-being of the people.

If you want to be the Kelantan MB, Ahmad Yakob, address the needs of the state and people by properly using the resources and expertise available.

Rupert16: Stupid MB, too busy on implementing hudud that he forgot about the flooding around him. Surely PAS will be a washout - not only in Kelantan - but elsewhere, come GE14.

I only hope that smart and good PAS MPs like Khalid Samad, Mujahid Yusof Rawa and many others will kick out the ulamas in their party, or leave PAS if they are unable to do so.

SteveOh: I cannot understand these people. They live in a flood-prone region yet they can find themselves trapped by the flooding waters? How expensive is it to buy a hovercraft for the state's leader so he will never be in such a predicament?

And why must vital supplies be handed out by VIPs who should not disrupt the emergency relief by their presence (unless they truly want to roll up their sleeves and help out like everyone else)? Leaders giving out packages are political theatre, and not befitting a progressive nation.

Relief work is not charity and not the time for opportunistic photo opportunities for any politician.

Gen. Half Track:  That's why politicians like Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak and Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin should not go around saying that we are a blessed country spared of all natural disasters - unlike other countries who suffer from earthquakes, droughts, active volcanoes, etc.

This is as the Malays say, “cakap takbur” (arrogant talk). Just praise Allah for all the bounties and don't be boastful.

Axolotl: Instead of praying to an invisible, patriarchal, punitive nature-despising deity, you would have done far better to ban all logging in your state, menteri besar! The trees and rivers and oceans are essential to our well-being and you have shown absolutely no respect or regard for Mother Nature.

And as long as you pay lip service to Allah or Jesus or whomever while worshipping the God of Money and Political Power, things will definitely keep getting worse.

Takeiteasy:  Don't just keep on praying as it only helps your mental strength to a certain extent. You must do something physical in solving the flood problems in the state. Human beings of different religions have been praying to gods for thousands of years and it is the physical actions as solutions that could relieve their problems.

God helps those who help themselves, and not hudud, urut, surut or whatever name you call it!

SusahKes: And this chap wants to guarantee that the proposed hudud implementation will be fair and just? Getting trapped in his own house, instead of being at the forefront of the operations mobilisation - would you want to entrust him with stones and guillotines?

Supercession: Going by PAS' favourite idiot-logic, Allah must be implacably furious with PAS for being Talibanic and for screwing Pakatan Rakyat and all those who voted for it, hence Allah's attempt to drown the whole of Kelantan.

To stretch the idiot-logic further, PAS leaders therefore have no choice but to behead themselves if they were to have half a chance of saving Kelantan.

Myrights: Ahmad Yakob, do you wonder why this is happening in Kelantan - and especially to you, personally?

Using Pasir Mas MP Nik Abduh Nik Aziz's low IQ reasoning, it would counter that it is God's message to you for breaking your promise to the people and your partners, and for pushing ahead with hudud implementation?

A simpler reasoning is that you guys did a terrible job in flood mitigation planning.

Mushiro: Even if the MB is trapped by floods in his own house, he should not talk about it. Just direct relief operations from where ever he is. This is weak leadership.

Clongviews: It is this type of critical situation where the leadership is tested. Flooding in the east coast states is an annual occurrence, and especially in Kelantan where it is the worst-hit. PAS has been in control for more than two decades, and this time they are caught with their pants down.

Praying is one thing, but to be prepared for the worst is just as important. PAS must not only think of saving souls for the next life, but also save lives in this world - now.
