Hello, it’s Najib who is PM, not Guan Eng

YOURSAY ‘Guan Eng is only chief minister in Penang and Penang is not flooded.’

BN targets absent Guan Eng after flak for Najib

Lee Hup: Where are DAP and PKR leaders? Still vacationing overseas? Why blame the government when the flood issue has no link to Najib. It is a natural disaster.

Appum: Hasn't it just been reported that opposition representatives who came with aid for the flood victims had been shooed away by the local authorities?

What do you want Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng for? So that he can be shooed away by BN leaders?

Pahatian: Don't just take potshots at the leaders of Pakatan Rakyat to justify the PM Najib Razak's earlier absence.

Can DAP supremo Lim Kit Siang direct or mobilise any of the government agencies to help flood victims? Can Lim Guan Eng or Selangor MB Azmin Ali direct the police or rescue services to be deployed?

Only fools and idiots will try to put the blame on Pakatan leaders to nullify the PM's absence.

Lamps: Lim Guan Eng is only the chief minister in Penang and Penang is not flooded. Once again, BN supporters are showing their illogical thinking.

Voice: What is wrong with all this BN supporters? Why can't they just accept the fact that Guan Eng is not the PM of this country who was playing golf overseas at the time of national crisis?

James_3392: On hindsight, Putrajaya should have given the Penang government full commanding authority for national emergencies and rescue operations. Then, Najib can continue with his Hawaii golfing and we sure will drag Guan Eng back from his Paris holiday.

Authorities always go with corresponding responsibilities. Give your authority away and nobody will hold you responsible.

Equatorial Man: There is a time for everything. The pro-BN quarters should not be too keen to criticise Guan Eng yet.

The right time is if and when any part of Penang is heavily flooded, like Kelantan and the other states, and Lim still refuses to return home to assume his responsibility as the chief minister of Penang.

Versey: No wonder Najib scolded his people as "bangang". They could not differentiate the role, limits and scope of authority mandated to a prime minister with that of a state assembly person/opposition leader.

Could it be that they think the opposition leader holds the keys to national security and the nation’s coffers?

Or they think the opposition leader enjoys as much privilege as the prime minister, the leader of the ruling party, and they don't understand that privileges always come with responsibilities and therefore it's a surprise to them that the public will expect his presence to assist them when disaster of such scale arises?

Maybe the word "responsibility" is something new to those who only know or are interested in privileges, but not in taking responsibility.

Well, the truly educated, civilised and right-thinking people know the scope of authority mandated to the PM is different from the opposition leaders.

It's the "bangang" cybertroopers who are confused and keep posting junks that embarrass no one but themselves and their master.

SusahKes: Najib is PM; Lim is only CM of Penang. As PM, he is the CEO of the nation. He should set an example as leader, especially in times of crisis.

But then again, what does Najib know of hands-on leadership? He has been typically silent or missing whenever his leadership was called for.

I do not think he could recover politically from this latest guffaw. Those who are out to end his political career will now have even more stones to throw at him and bring him down.

Najib lands in Kelantan, possibly on different jet

Tailek: The PM should clarify why the government plane is in Indianapolis.

Unless it is carrying someone even more important than the PM, he should have flown back to Malaysia on it instead of dispatching an RMAF jet to pick him up in Hong Kong and wasting yet more taxpayers’ money.

WDA: The PM should have deferred his holiday when a tragedy was taking place in Malaysia.

To make it worse, he was "caught" by the foreign press enjoying a game of golf with the US president in sunny Hawaii while thousands back home were in shelters, most probably cold, hungry and overwhelmed by a feeling of helplessness.

Only Najib knows if he timed and planned his year-end holiday in Hawaii knowing well that is where Obama always spends his Christmas - or it was an official get-together that was planned in advance.

It does not matter which is the truth because the people's suffering should have taken precedence over the US president. Najib made a wrong choice here and his ‘correction’ is a bit too late as the damage has already been done.

To add to the dent to his reputation, his wife, Rosmah Mansor, most probably decided not to return with Najib, but continue holidaying in the US.
