YOURSAY ‘And his cabinet ministers are just like him ‑ no initiative!’

PM puts flood victims before family

Louis: Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak, please don't tell a sob story of how sad you feel, having to leave your family behind in the US.

You must know that in your job, it is the country's interest first and if you feel that you cannot fulfil this condition, you can always give way to others.

There is nothing so pitiful about your family being left behind. After all, they are enjoying themselves. In fact, you should not paint a pitiful picture of your family. There is no sacrifice on the part of your family at all.

There are many who are willing to exchange places with your family.

Where is Justice: Just imagine those flood victims who have lost everything, imagine those who have not eaten for days, imagine those who have only the shirts on their backs as their belongings left, imagine those in hospitals needing evacuation, imagine those who have lost their family members... and you are putting your sorry face about how sorry you are to have to leave your family.

I won't feel as insulted and angry had you kept your mouth shut. You have again demonstrated to the nation that you are just a coward, a ‘pray‑5‑times‑a‑day’ hypocrite!

Fairnessforall: Hahaha... good joke. If Malaysians did not bombard him on his Facebook page, I bet he would not have bothered and just continued on with his holiday.

The people in the flooded states have been suffering for days, yet he was smiling and seemed to be having a good time playing golf with US president Barack Obama, so who is he trying to fool?

Abasir: "I told them that what they were experiencing could not compare with the feelings of the flood victims." Now that says a lot about the family ‑ obviously one which is completely self‑indulgent, utterly self‑centered, pampered silly by all that jetsetting, and now probably frolicking somewhere in the Midwest.

Well Thats Fantastic: He is the PM, he must stand up against all scrutiny; if he doesn't, then we don't have the right person for the job.

There is no hate, just repeated disappointment that our leaders are so lacking and they can't even see it. Their answer is paying people to lie for them online and in the media.

Money is not the answer. Genuine empathy would be a great start.

Nes: Mr PM, you are really out of touch with the people. The more you try to justify your vacation, the more you are showing your real character.

I wish you would just carry on with whatever you are doing for the flood victims and stop trying to justify yourself. Then you may win back some respect, hopefully.

Najib now orders cabinet home too

ByebyeBN: The thick-skinned PM would still be playing his 19th hole if not for the bad publicity that he was getting. To show his careless attitude, what happened to the official plane that is still in the US? Is Rosmah Mansor in that plane or home with him?

Are we, the public, paying for the expense of flying two planes to get Najib home and the official plane on a mysterious mission of shopping?

Negarawan: This is the time to put aside all political differences and work together. Take this as a ‘war’ situation. If everybody drew a political boundary in a war, we would be crushed by the enemy in no time. It is regrettable to see some relief centres shooing away assistance offered due to political affiliation.

Jbsuara: The citizens are distressed and sore that while the peninsula was engulfed by flood waters - which has taken some lives of citizens in Terengganu, Kelantan and Pahang with Hospital Kuala Krai on SOS with some critical patients stranded - the PM had still been playing golf in America.

More than 160,000 stranded and probably half a million citizens affected, yet the foremost priority to save these flood victims was left to the second-in-command!

Even foreign medias - like the Jakarta Post - had pointed out on Dec 27 the criticisms by M'sians against the PM on the flood handling. Meanwhile, our subservient local press remain coy about the issue of the missing PM ‑ these media organisations, by failing to voice out and instead covering the weaknesses of our leaders, are doing a disservice to the people and the country.

Just get the facts right and publish them forthrightly without fear nor favour! For that, I salute Malaysiakini , The Malaysian Insider and pour shame to Utusan Malaysia , Berita Harian and New Straits Times . And shame to all the apologists of Umno-BN as well.

Eagle: Why bring them all back? Is the PM and deputy prime minister not enough? It is not the ministers running the relief operations. It's the army, police, heads of departments, etc. Ministers are not the right people for the job. What a laugh.

Louis: Truly the best PM in the world. Nowhere else can you find a PM who would happily go golfing while his country is being ravaged by the worst flooding in decades. Hey Najib, how much is your golfing buddy Obama contributing to our national disaster fund?

And Najib’s cabinet ministers are just like him ‑ no initiative! They must be told to come home. When they do, they would simply tell the flood victims what Najib had said, "I am always in touch with the situation.

I am very concerned for your safety", and pretend to shed a few crocodile tears.
