Mkini barred from PMO? Ouch, the truth hurts

YOURSAY ‘Barring gives the impression that the PMO has something to hide.’

M'kini barred from Prime Minister's Office

Sali Tambap: In most things, we do not know what really happened. We do not know what actually happened in 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB). We do not know what national security assistance alleged kingpin Paul Phua has provided the government “from time to time”.

We do not know the motive why former police commandos Sirul Azhar Umar and Azilah Hadri murder a woman who had nothing to do with them.

Yes, there are many things that we actually do not know. And when good people who want to find out what actually happen, alas they are not allowed to because as someone very smart said, it will only incite hatred among the people.

So perhaps that logic demands that we should hide our heads in the sand on something that we do not need to know and allow all things that incite hatred be hidden all the time, so that they can keep on doing them.

ACR : There is an old adage, “the truth hurts”. So long as Malaysiakini reports the truth, the party getting hurt by the truth would react this way. There is no loss to Malaysiakini as the truth still gets reported.

Anonymous_1405071260: If Malaysiakini is inciting hatred or reporting something not true, then the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) can:

a) Lodge a police report for police to take action and/or

b) Sue Malaysiakini (which has been done before)

Barring Malaysiakini journalists gives people the impression that the PMO is either afraid or has something to hide.

Kit P: So the earlier argument by some minister that Malaysia's press freedom index should be ranked higher because online news portals like Malaysiakini are allowed to operate, is actually hollow. The government places all kinds of obstacles against them.

Kingfisher: If the PM's Department considers it their prerogative to deny access to Malaysiakini , it is supposedly within their right.

However considering the increasing populist support from the general public for the credibility of Malaysiakini's reporting especially on issues critical for good governance, many members of the electorate may consider Putrajaya's strategy as faulty and as arising from apprehension and opposition to press freedom.

CYLee: Why does Malaysiakini bother to write anything about what the government has to say when you know that their subscribers do not want to know anything concerning the government?

Coleen: It is obvious that Malaysiakini only reporting something that can incite hatred among the people. But regarding the issue above, nobody can actually know what is really happening.

Ipohcrite: Gosh, there are really dozens of Umno cybertroopers here relentlessly attacking Malaysiakini and supporting the PMO ban.

They gave themselves away by their rotten English and parrot-like comments. How amusing.

Azmin wants DAP-PAS spat resolved

RCZ: Selangor Menteri Besar Azmin Ali, easier said than done. This is not a matter between only DAP and PAS as it very much involves Pakatan Rakyat and the voters, who put you where you all are and who can remove you.

The Analyser: I really don't know why anyone would want to patch up this divide, because it's such a fundamental component of what is wrong with Malaysia.

That these two groups ever came together is almost beyond conceiving. The fact that so many Malaysians embraced this union really shows how poor their skills of judgement are.

This is not about DAP vs PAS, this is not about Christians vs Muslims, this is not about Chinese vs Malays. This divide is about freedom vs repression and looking forward vs looking back.

Keturunan Malaysia: The Analyser, you are hitting the nail squarely on the head. The bitter truth is too hard to accept, much less to swallow.

Imanust Nais Yalam: Lately, Azmin has been showing better leadership than Anwar Ibrahim. The latter is behaving more and more like Najib Abdul Razak - not being decisive on controversial issues. I see Azmin being PM one day.

Abasir: Azmin, Pakatan leadership council meeting? You mean the one which the two-timing 'Presiden PAS' does not attend?

The same fellow who has all the time in the world for private meetings with Najib and the Selangor sultan? The scumbag whose treachery towards PKR president Wan Azizah Wan Ismail enabled your ascent?

Jiminy Qrikert: Now PKR is conveniently treating the current impasse with Hadi as a 'spat between DAP and PAS' when the entire disgusting affair was triggered off by Hadi's treacherous betrayal of Anwar and PKR over the Selangor MB issue.

Anwar and PKR from that point, even on that issue, have been pussy-footing their response to Hadi's treachery. They have made every effort to avoid confronting Hadi over his trangressions instead leaving DAP to face off with Hadi.

Now PKR presents it as if it is a dispute solely between DAP and PAS with PKR not having any involvement at all.

Azmin is playing middleman when not too long ago he was the man in the middle of the whole sordid challenge by Hadi against the wishes of Anwar on the selection of MB for Selangor.

It is increasingly looking as if Anwar and PKR are spineless and too afraid to stand up to Hadi despite his string of treacherous antics, betrayals and provocations. If this is what Anwar and PKR really are, there is no point in putting them in Putrajaya.

Proarte: Democracy is being systematically decimated before our very eyes by politicians who have no regard for the people of Malaysia, only seeing them as pawns for their own selfish personal and party agenda.

DAP and PKR must come together to defend our nation state with its diverse population which is being rend apart by rotten scoundrels masquerading as politicians, who use race and religion to divide and rule.

It is about time we put our foot down and boot them out.
