Those who attack Dr Dzul disgrace religion

YOURSAY ‘So, punches were thrown. What next? Political assassinations?’

PAS leader Dzulkefly Ahmad assaulted

Hibiscus: PAS central committee member Dr Dzulklifi Ahmad is a gentleman, never known to resort to shouting or yelling to get his points across. How could he be considered “kurang ajar sangat”?

The hooligans who attacked him and those who sent these hooligans to attack him disgraced themselves and their religion by their cowardly violent act. They are the real ‘kurang ajar sangat’.

Kathleen Ong: Any progressive individual is always cowed into silence by either verbal or physical means. YB Dzulkefly is a great man who took the path less travelled. God bless and speedy recovery to YB.

I am prepared to pay RM200 per month for the next 12 months to get a proper bodyguard for the YB. We need another 25 people to sign on. Can someone arrange this?

Steak Lembu: The PAS president must say something or PAS will just be like MIC, or worse.

Muhibbah: Get well soon, Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad. The assailant will never be found even if a police report is launched. But we can guess he's a thug from the other side of the same cloth.

Dont Just Talk: Gangster politics seem to be the order of the day in PAS and when you disagree with some moderate leaders' view, just punch him and say, “Kenapa kurang ajar sangat.”

In Syria it is even worse, you might lose your head and proudly shown by Islamic State on YouTube and taking selfies, like what the two Malaysians did recently.

Starwars: What is happening to PAS? I hope this is not an attack by the ulamas and/or their supporters.

This is certainly a cause for concern. We cannot allow extremist views to take root in PAS and destroy the fabric of this country.

I am always skeptical of all these people who make use of religion and do things in the name of religion. They are usually troublemakers with evil intentions.

This world is full of problem due to people who make use of religion. Anyone who oppose them will be dealt with violently.

They will evolve into a cult movement if not controlled. PAS is heading towards that direction.

Anonymous_1388029052: Dr Dzul is a real gentleman. I have heard him spoke many times at forums and I do not believe he is "kurang ajar". The assault must be politically motivated.

Abasir: So the Party of God and the sole distributer of the Religion of Peace is showing its fighting spirit to prove its bona fides?

Haveagreatday: Punches were thrown. What next? Political assassinations?

We really have a long way to go before we become a civil society, one where we are willing to debate differing viewpoints without resorting to violence.

Hadi urged to put a halt to violence in PAS

Ferdtan: “One is an incident, two is a coincidence, and three is a pattern.”

We pray that it will not go to the third stage as life could possibly be lost. In February, PAS elections director Kuala Krai MP Dr Mohd Hatta Ramli’s car was burned by an unidentified person outside his house in Hulu Klang.

Now the second happening, less than one month from the first, PAS central committee member Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad was assaulted.

Both Hatta and Dzulkefly are part of the ‘progressives’ faction in PAS which is bitter fighting against the pro-Umno/PAS unity ulama faction in the coming party election.

Why didn’t the head of the party, president Abdul Hadi Awang, not come out immediately to condemn such acts in no uncertain terms?

This can be interpreted that the allegiance of the suspects in both cases are from his camp.

Kazakh: It could be an outsider whose paymaster would like to see PAS break apart. Sad and I see it’s very likely that the moderates will be pushed out by the conservative.

Kancil: The attack on Dzulkefly is clearly motivated by politics. My question: Is it PAS politics or is it Umno politics?

Either way Hadi needs to take a clear stand on this issue. If Hadi remains silent on such violence, like Najib has especially since GE13, then it will be clear to everyone what kind of ulama and man he is.

Headhunter: What happened to their holier than thou attitude? At the end of the day, some of these PAS leaders are no different from those in Umno.

It's anything goes, including resorting to violence and telling lies, just to hang on to power. Pious my foot!
