Ski masks, guns odious display of PDRM might

YOURSAY ‘Are they so embarrassed of their action that they had to hide their faces?’

Mat Sabu nabbed by police in 'ski masks'

Lamborghini: Using the brute force of a special police unit with ski masks and guns to arrest a politician is a sure sign of desperation.

Besides being a pure waste of public funds, it is an abuse of the authority entrusted to the police.

There is no more dignity and honour left in the police force and ordinary citizens like me have totally lost faith in the police.

The days are growing darker in Malaysia. But the people will not be cowed and silenced by these kinds of official intimidation.

You can arrest and lock up the true Malaysian heroes but you can never lock up the truth and justice that the rakyat hold in their hearts.

Light will always prevail over darkness, reason will prevail over brute force, goodwill always triumph over evil, truth will always triumph over deceit. Remember Mandela and Martin Luther king

CQ Muar: What has gone wrong to this country? Is there no law left in order to warrant such random arrest just because the prime minister's daughter is getting married?

We hope the whole world gets to read such injustices and publicise in their media about the blatant abuse of power by the police.

What good is our Federal Constitution when leaders and enforcers of the law do not abide by it? When the rights and freedom of citizens have been breached and infringed by the prime minister himself and the head of PDRM, otherwise known as the Royal Malaysian Police.

In view of such unreasonable actions, can all those arrested charge the police and those responsible for issuing the order for wrongful detention?

Can the Bar Council or other legal bodies enlighten us on the matter over such sheer outrageous display of might?

Middle Path: Are the police dealing with highly armed criminals that they had to resort to hiding their identities and forcibly arresting a politician? Are our police so embarrassed of the action that they had to hide their faces?

Kangkung: I hope the world will look at how the Umno government is treating leaders of the opposition. The way they were arrested and treated is worse than common criminals.

The police want to destroy all opposition to Umno as they know the rakyat is truly angry with the government over Goods and Services Tax (GST) and all the corruption by Umno's dear leader.

Hisham Rais 'kidnapped', then arrested

Oracle: The next time this happens, how would we know it was done by real kidnappers and not the police? If it were kidnappers, then the time needed to verify such cases would surely work in favour of kidnappers.

Or was it that some unknown activists had grabbed Hishamuddin Rais, got cold feet and then delivered him to a police station?

Ski masks, motorcycles, hasty retreats - perhaps somebody has watched too many Hollywood movies.

Anonymous #19098644: The Umno regime has exhausted all legal means to suppress legitimate dissent.

Instead the rakyat have become more incensed by the unending spate of financial scandals, corruption, abuse of power, incompetence and outright lies of the regime. So they are now using extrajudicial measures to suppress dissent.

This outrageous act of public abduction on the streets of Kuala Lumpur is the hallmark of a desperate regime struggling to cling to power.

Monty: How long will the silent majority remain on the sidelines expecting others to fight their battles?

The group of 25 eminent persons should themselves take the lead now and act, not just with words but actions as well.

We need people in the hundreds of thousands to demonstrate and demand that the inspector-general of police (IGP) and home minister step down immediately.

Act, people, before it is too late and these arrogant men take complete control of the country.

Mushiro: The comment by Dang Wangi district police chief Zainol Samah that he was unaware of Hishamuddin's 'kidnapping' is irresponsible and lacks urgency.

This is something very unhealthy on the part of the police. It looks like the police are baiting the people to challenge them.

Asitis: How can the police force keep demanding that the public obey the law when they are themselves are seen and perceived to be violating the law with impunity?
