Rafizi, shoeless and chained, but unbowed

YOURSAY ‘Why was Rafizi not given a pair of sandals to wear?’

Police raid PKR HQ over Rafizi's circular

CQ Muar: Pandan MP Rafizi Ramli, the whole world is watching what this repressive government is unjustly doing to you and the rest of those who were clamped down recently.

We will never forget these dark days this brutal regime is enforcing, exercising their authority as if there's no law in the country.

God willing, these tyrants must be made to suffer the way they are doing to others. We pray that Tuhan is witnessing the evil wrought to the people by these depraved leaders.

The citizens of this beloved nation must not just stand and watch and do nothing. It is time they step out of the cocoon to right the wrong and bring back sanity and justice to this country.

Monty: Now, all that could have been avoided if the PM had invited PKR leaders to the wedding...

But seriously, I find it disturbing to see these arrests happening over a peaceful rally. Or is there a more sinister reason. And I find it particularly painful to see our parliamentary leaders being handcuffed.

What do the police expect them to do? Run away? The inspector-general of police (IGP) and his boss, the home minister, have much to answer.

But I know what I am going to do today. Send my application to join PKR and I ask other Malaysians who want to see change to do so too.

It’s time to stop bellyaching about Umno on the Internet and act to stop democracy from going down the gutter.

Anon1: Raiding the party’s headquarters? That's stretching investigations to what a lone individual said a bit too far. It’s more like abuse and harassment of opposition politicians. The rule of law has broken down completely.

Oh Ya?: The photo (of a barefooted Rafizi and in police lock-up uniform) is priceless and it should be front-page covers of social media or mainstream newspapers worldwide.

Indeed, former PM Dr Mahathir Mohamad has underestimated PM Najib Razak by mourning too soon the passing of Lee Kuan Yew as the last "strong" leader in this region.

Senior Citizen: The IGP should be condemned. Why was Rafizi not given a pair of sandals to wear?

Anonymous_40f4: Hooded robbers with parangs rob houses, cars are stolen, bags get snatched but the PRDM (Royal Malaysian Police) are busy raiding politicians house and handcuffing them and throwing them into jail.

And no comments from our PM because he is too busy with his lavish daughter’s wedding and his ‘mafia in laws’.

Blobfishface: The government is getting more desperate with each passing day, and Umno no longer bothers to hide its ‘samseng’ DNA.

It’s sad to see the nation plunged into such inglorious darkness - no thanks to the ruthless ambition and greed of a few degenerate and uncouth souls.

Apa Ini?: I’m proud to be Malaysian when I see Malaysians like Rafizi who have the guts to stand up to BN government.

My Opinion: Whilst Singaporean braved the heavy downpour to mourn their hero, Lee Kwan Yew, Malaysians moaned over their corrupt and desperate government. What a drastic contrast.

Rick Teo: The more the police carry out such selective prosecution, the more I am determine to ask all my friends and relatives to boot out BN in the next election.

Does PDRM think that by humiliating Rafizi and other PKR office bearers will discourage us from throwing out this rotten government? No, it has strengthened our resolve.

NNFC: IGP, please don't waste the people's money - spend your time catching real crooks and keeping our streets safe. Politicians are not terrorists.

SimonTi: PKR secretary-general Rafizi Ramli, PKR vice-president Tian Chua, PAS deputy president Mohamad Sabu, PAS’ Shah Alam MP Khalid Samad, Kita PKR coordinator Fariz Musa are all true Malaysians, real patriots and leaders of great courage and substance all fighting a racist and most corrupt regime.

The rakyat love these brave patriots and they are all Allah's gift to Malaysia. Allah blesses you all and may Allah continue to give you strength in your noble fight against an evil regime.

Rick Teo: IGP Khalid Abu Bakar thinks that by embarrassing Rafizi, it will break the Pakatan Rakyat spirits. He is wrong. He is merely stoking public hatred for the police.

Commando 69: Opposition MPs are handcuffed but Umno MPs invited to give statements at their convenience. Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM), you are destroying the image of the force in the eyes of the world.

Malaysia Ku: Instead of humiliating Rafizi, those cowards actually further enhance his heroic status as a man who stands up for justice.

Umno's attempts to ignore history will be their downfall. Despots invariably will meet their doom and that certainty is engraved in human history.
