YOURSAY ‘And he waited more than a week to interview minister Ismail Sabri.’

IGP: We don’t tolerate freedom to incite

Kim Quek: The inspector-general of police (IGP) is wrong. Inciting people to oppose the government is not unlawful, otherwise we don’t need an opposition.

Even an incitement to topple the government is not unlawful. It is a breach of law only when an extra-constitutional method is employed, such as using violence.

Hence, the police have no business to declare the Kita Lawan rally illegal, much less to go on an orgy of wanton arrests of leaders.

The recent landmark Court of Appeal judgment upholding the freedom of expression and assembly enshrined in Article 10 of the Federal Constitution has just re-affirmed this constitutional right, even to the extent of declaring the 10-day notice for holding a rally stipulated under Section 9(5) of the Peaceful Assembly Act 2012 (PAA) as unconstitutional .

Hence, police chief Khalid Abu Bakar must be urgently educated of such fundamental legal principle to avert further heinous injustice to the people, damage to the rule of law and Malaysia’s international reputation.

SteveOh: The IGP is treading on wafer-thin legal ice. There is no reason for arresting citizens who want to take part in or who organise a legal and peaceful demonstration.

The pre-emptive strike against MPs Rafizi Ramli, Tian Chua and others is questionable as they have not committed any crime.

'Inciting' is a dubious word, coined for political motives, and those arrested can't be guilty. 'Inciting' to what? Protesting against the GST (Goods and Services Tax) is incitement? Protesting for the release of Anwar is incitement?

No, the watching public deems those involved as exercising their civil freedoms and the IGP must not be seen as acting without justification.

What about that lawyer-cum-persecutor who went around preaching hatred against an innocent man who went to jail. That to the public is the real 'inciting' to hate, to spite and to destroy the character of the country's best-known political victim.

Why he was not stopped, arrested and remanded? The public deserves good policing, not police caught in political games.

Goldee: I fully agree with the IGP that Kita Lawan leaders were ‘inciting’ others, but why Perkasa and Isma not arrested for doing the same?

Are there two laws - one for Pakatan Rakyat leaders and one for non-Pakatan leaders?

Ace: The police chief is feeling invincible because he knows that under the current circumstances no one can touch him no matter what he says or does.

We, the helpless rakyat, can only wish and pray that the Mr High and Mighty will not forget that nothing is permanent in this world and ultimately God will set things right.

Anonymous_3f94: And Khalid waited more than a week to interview Agriculture Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob because he needed to fit it in the BN minister's schedule at the latter's convenience.

Derock: Indeed, when it comes to the opposition, it is incitement. But, when it involves Umno, this IGP pretends nothing happened.

Don't give us the bulls**t, IGP. People will have high regard for you if you act fairly.

Blobfishface: Nobody takes you seriously, Khalid. Don't waste your breath and our time. You're just an overpaid security guard for the Umno syndicate.

If the whole federal government wasn't even more crooked than you, you would still be doing sentry duty at Balai Polis Travers.

Najib's newlyweds bar wedding pix from net

Kangkung: The Kita Lawan and other groups fighting the excesses of the leader of the current Umno regime have succeeded.

The regime is now fearful that photos of the lavish wedding are seen by the rakyat who will tomorrow have to shoulder the burdens of GST to pay for the regime's leader's golf, shopping and travelling (GST) expenses.

Mushiro: This sudden change from extraordinary pompous behaviour to complete privacy is hypocrisy and probably done on second thoughts. Their engagement ceremony was an extravaganza which no one will complain if paid for by the family.

This young couple must learn to live within their means and not at the expense of the rakyat. Please spare the rakyat of your outrageous lifestyle and expenses.

Boonpou: Don't we all not feel like puking over the carnival of disgrace that is taking place in the midst of the arrests?

I am lost for words with my disguise over the disparity of wealth that is being displayed so blatantly.

The orgy of wealth that goes on despite the implementation of a new tax that will be shouldered by the rakyat is apparently of no concern to these ‘pirates’.

If we do nothing now we might as well be forever ashamed of our inaptness and deeds, not only to our forebears but to our children and grandchildren. Reformasi is not enough any longer. We need to do more.

Anonymous_1378093545: All the best, Gina and Danny. May your marriage be blessed and may you have a great life together.

The anger against your father and mother spills over here but you are not responsible for the actions of your parents - you did not bring them up.

So make your own way in life, and once again all the very best to both of you.
