Thanks to PAS, Pakatan on path to implosion

YOURSAY ‘BN has now openly admitted that it is deceiving PAS.’

Cabinet did not discuss hudud bill, reveals Nazri

Ferdtan: The hudud issue is not about Islam and its religious laws as espoused by PAS and certain Umno ministers but it is all about politics.

For Umno, it was to force the break-up of Pakatan Rakyat and for PAS, it was Abdul Hadi Awang’s strategy to win the coming party election.

This means that Umno, through PM Najib Razak, is holding the public to ransom by not being forthcoming with a firm decision on hudud.

As for Prevention of Terrorism Act (Pota) to be introduced with provisions similar to the Internal Security Act (ISA), it is another sad day for Malaysia.

Malaysians had fought so hard and so long to get ISA abolished through candlevigils and demonstrations and now this? Assurances by BN government that it will not be used to silence the opposition is not worth a hoot.

ISA, which was used to detain opposition leaders, showed how the new law can go wrong.

Wira: See how Umno is treating this issue? That is why I've been telling DAP not to issue any more statements to the media on this issue.

You guys are on a path to implosion, one of your own doing, Uncle Lim (Kit Siang). Your party had already made a clear stand on this issue. You don't have to respond to every provocation from MCA/Gerakan.

From now on, the less being said about this, the better. PKR is handling this issue far better than your party does.

Swot Strategist: By insisting on implementing hudud, it tells of an unforgiving God’s laws (or more so, human interpreted) that promote so-called deterrence by causing great physical pains (eg. amputations without anesthetics) with devilish intentions to create irreversible permanent scars by turning convicts into OKU (Orang Kurang Upaya), thus contributing to more social problems.

CHKS: BN has now openly admitted that it is deceiving PAS into splitting Pakatan. It is clear that:

1) PAS is no longer a trustworthy party in Pakatan and the non-Muslims will never vote PAS again.

2) PAS is being betrayed again by BN - something which the late TGNA (Tok Guru Nik Aziz Nik Mat) has warned vehemently and yet the stupid top leaders in PAS still fall for it.

At the end of the day, PAS is losing out no matter how you look at it.

Caesar: Actually BN has no intention of supporting hudud. They just want to challenge PAS to table hudud and in the process break up Pakatan.

PAS and Hadi got played out again by BN. PAS members who are aware of this ploy should kick out Hadi and his gang.

Anonymous #20513663: Caesar, the question we need to ask how is how many, and which PAS leaders were 'bought' (if any) to help create the ‘sandiwara’.

I simply do not believe that people can be so stupid after having been cheated, time and again. The only rational conclusion is that certain PAS leaders were 'in on the game'. We cannot exclude the possibility that some PKR and DAP leaders could also have been 'bought'.

In particular, PKR deputy president Azmin Ali coming to Hadi's defence rather quickly when nobody asked for his opinion is very suspicious. (And let's not forget how he got his Selangor MB’s post instead of it going to Kak Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.)

The unnecessary and unnecessarily strong reaction from DAP’s Chong Chien Jen in Sarawak is also very suspicious. It's almost like a 'signal' was given and the dogs started barking. (Non-Umno BN dogs also started barking, of course, but nobody is paying attention to them anymore.)

Jiminy Qrikert: Pakatan is already breaking apart. PKR and DAP do not have the guts to kick PAS out but their stupidity in continuing to hang on to the hope that PAS will close ranks is causing Pakatan's supporters to reject them.

PAS is a party of treacherous, lying Malay supremacist bigots. Either they dump PAS or we dump them in GE14.

Proarte: PKR is showing the duplicitous and 'all things to all men' approach which defined their unprincipled leader Anwar Ibrahim. PAS is collaborating with Umno to throw Pakatan into disarray.

Hadi is adamant about tabling an unconstitutional hudud bill which has the potential to rent the fabric of our nation. These are not trifling issues like a lover's tiff but very real grounds for divorce.

The Islamic state and hudud have been thorns since Barisan Alternatif days but even after 16 years, DAP, PKR and PAS, cannot come to a decisive position. If Pakatan refuses to defend the constitution, then it does not have moral authority to lead the nation.

Hudud has been BN's biggest weapon but ironically it has been Pakatan which have been shooting themselves in the foot. DAP and PKR have played for too long in the Islamists terrain. It has not been helped by Anwar abusing Islam for his personal agenda.

With Anwar out of the way, let us hope our constitutional democracy will be promoted and strengthened by Pakatan Baru minus PAS.

Anonymous #20513663: Proarte, you mean BN have come to a decisive conclusion? I have never understood the double standards Malaysians apply to Pakatan vis a vis BN.

Sure, we would like a better government, but how come one side can get away with a C mark while the other side, as soon as they fall below A-, is immediately 'killed'?

B+ is good enough for now, and from there things will get better. With hudud, Umno-BN is the only one with enough MPs to pass it. So why is the heat on Pakatan?

It beats me. Malaysians are not thinking rationally.
