Why special treatment for Dr M in police probe?

YOURSAY ‘Next time, other VVIPs will also demand discreet investigations.’

Wan Junaidi: Police may probe Dr M discreetly

SteveOh: So now we have it from the horse's mouth. A deputy minister invoking the double standards for which the government has gained notoriety and received brickbats from human rights groups and the opposition.

He said: "You must remember that (former premier Dr) Mahathir (Mohamad) was a very long-serving prime minister. We must all give the due respect."

Very true but what about Lim Kit Siang, a long-serving MP, Anwar Ibrahim, former deputy prime minister, the Perak 13 and so on? Don't they deserve due respect also?

"No one is above the law," he said. Well said. But why investigate Mahathir when they should be investigating the answer to his question: "Who ordered the killing of Altantuya (Shaariibuu)?"

Mahathir is on the right side of history on the Altantuya scandal. Whatever his reasons, he is spot on with his question and people want the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.

So how is that sedition? The suggestion Mahathir is guilty of sedition sounds like a wacko's idea of a good day at the office.

Firestone: Deputy Home Minister Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, do you think we will believe that the police will send in 20 men in balaclava and arrest Mahathir and drag him in handcuffs and make him wear the purple lock-up garb?

You might instruct but the inspector-general of police wouldn’t dare.

Ferdtan: We are learning something new each day with these Umno leaders. Is there such thing as a ‘discreet’ police investigation, Wan Junaidi?

A police investigation is an official public investigation; that is all to it, nothing more or less. Will the police investigation be done so discreetly that they would do their work unseen and unheard?

Deputy minister, when a police report is made and when investigation starts, the person in question is called a suspect.

So is Mahathir is a suspect? Or maybe to Umno members, the preferred terminology is that he is a ‘respectable’ accused.

Anon1: Criminal investigations conducted discreetly, respectfully, inconspicuously, thoughtfully, modestly, politely, etc.

Yes, we fools will believe such an investigation is being carried out, and in that manner. Why? Because the deputy minister said so and we all must believe him.

Pa·tri·ot·ic: The law is the law. What do you mean discreetly? Are you telling the world that there should be two sets of law in Malaysia?

One for Umno leaders, who can get away with almost anything or everything, and another for those who oppose Umno?

Headhunter: Indeed, why the special treatment? Go get him in the middle of the night with police officers in combat gears, handcuff him and make sure he's not allowed to wear any shoes, too.

Tailek: Why should it be done discreetly? Either you probe or you don't. Don't practice double standards. Next time, other VVIPs will also demand discreet investigations.

Armageddon: Anwar represents the opposition and should also be given the same respect. More than 50 percent voted for him. Or doesn’t he deserve it because he is from the opposition?

Exranger: Mr Deputy Minister, maybe you can propose a new bill for discrete investigation for whom you deem fit and pass the bill at 2.30am.

Behsaikong: Shouldn't all investigations, since an investigation is not a charge let alone a verdict, be conducted in a discreet manner? Should any investigation be carried out in an indiscreet manner?

And can't a former PM like any other person ask questions? Questions are not answers, so can’t why questions be asked?

Anonymous_1391693662: When it comes to normal public, the IGP's brains tweets brilliantly. He can confirm on the spot if the statements are seditious or not.

But in the case of Mahathir, his brains tweets like a dumb fool, that he need to study his statements made in detail although what was said is similar to the ones made by the public.

Anonymous #845673: Why probe Mahathir? He is not the murderer. Probe the real killer of Altantuya. Is it so complicated?

Einstein: Should Mahathir be given due respect if he does not respect the Prime Minister’s Office? All the institutions of government were destroyed while he was PM.

The rakyat wants a royal commission of inquiry, not an unsolicited impeachment by an ex-PM.

Supercession: How about showing "due respect" to the rakyat first?

Joe Lee: Mahathir sent in a dozen police in balaclavas, and submachine guns to pick up Anwar. This is the Mahathir way - he did not respect the fact that Anwar was former DPM, and had millions of supporters.

Now why are you all so scared of an old man?
