Mixed reactions to Kit Siang’s overtures

YOURSAY ‘A leopard doesn't change its spots. You have seen that in PAS.’

To save M'sia, Kit Siang willing to work with Dr M

NewMalaysia: There's absolutely no need for LKS (Lim Kit Siang) or DAP to get involved in Umno’s internal conflict. Let them fight. Just get your popcorn ready, sit back, relax and enjoy the show.

The only way to truly save Malaysia is by allowing Umno to self-destruct. DAP has its own battle with PAS to take care of, so don't be stupid and throw a lifeline to PM Najib Razak by working with TDM (Dr Mahathir Mohamad).

Time and again, we have seen how such external factor has given an excuse for Umno to close ranks and unite. We don't want to see that happen. We also don't want either TDM or Najib wins. Indeed, we want to see both of them get real ugly and nasty.

Hopefully, it will be bad enough to bring downfall of Umno, and only then the people will rejoice. Both TDM and Najib have too many skeletons in their closets. DAP definitely don't want to be caught working nor seen helping both of them.

Caripasal: No matter how much we hated Dr M, we now hate Najib more, especially his silence over many important issues.

Regardless of the reason of his silence, he is now perceived as an incapable leader. The use of different laws to prosecute the opposition can only be interpreted as his fear of losing the next GE.

Wong Fei Hoong: Lim Kit Siang, while I applaud your move, I for once cannot support Mahathir.

His whole idea of getting rid of Najib is to save Umno and his sons, not the nation. He has stated it very clearly.

It’s better that Pakatan Rakyat double up its effort to take Putrajaya rather than joining hands with this old fox. We don't want a situation where another corrupt Umno leader becomes PM.

Anonymous_3f4b: Mahathir once sent Lim and Karpal Singh to jail. Mahathir was the one who initiated legal action against Anwar Ibrahim. Lim is prepared to forego his principles and friends in PKR for selfish political interest.

He should have collaborated with the policies of the government instead of hurling accusations at BN and taking cheap political potshots. He chose to align himself with PAS instead. He has been taken for a ride by PAS and Anwar, and he is now lost.

If Karpal was alive, DAP would have burnt bridges with PAS by now and no way will he work with Mahathir, who is still the torch bearer for Umno. Even with Najib gone, Umno will still rule, and what has Lim got to say about this?

Oh Ya?: Political idiocy has reached the apex and now cuts across the political divide.

On the one hand, there is Mahathir who thinks Umno can be saved by getting rid of Najib whom he accused of committing many scandals that, if true, would be enough to bring down the whole government.

Then you have Abdul Hadi Awang who is still living in the Stone Age and thinks he can do whatever he likes without consulting his central committee members, let alone his Pakatan partners, never mind whether it is in line with Islamic teaching or not.

Now there are Zaid Ibrahim and LKS who think that Anwar and DAP could work with the ‘mother of all scandals’ Mahathir whom they have condemned the most in the past.

This is certainly not the end of the idiocy, and the rakyat would be the real idiots if they should continue to be led by the noses by these idiots.

Fair Play: There are many armchair critics who think the Lim Kit Siang-Dr M combo is a bad idea but couldn’t offer any solution except more gloom and doom.

I just hope, for the sake of future generations, these two political foes could and would bury their differences and make one final sacrifice and etch their names in our nation’s political history.

FellowMalaysian: I just wonder what prompted LKS to suggest the seemingly impossible suggestion - calling on his nemesis, who had once herded him along with his son and comrades to detention centres, to now work with him?

I failed to understand his logic this time. Maybe LKS should give us a hint on how he and Mahathir could 'work together' to save this failed state.

Malaysia Ku: There is logic in LKS' statement. The enemy of your enemy is my friend, and in politics, no one can be a foe forever.

The country is on the verge of a major catastrophe, and business as usual is untenable. While our neighbours are moving forward, this nation is plunging into a primal chaos of no return.

Apa Ini?: More of a dream but, hell, why not! If these leaders can meet to discuss how to put the nation back on track, it would indeed help make our dream comes true.

Headhunter: Placing the country interest above their personal differences and interests is what’s important. Malaysians will surely be grateful and support them unconditionally.

But first, tell us how are you going to govern the country and how are you going to stop the plundering, as well as recovering the money stolen by BN leaders over the years?

Asitis: Careful. A leopard doesn't change its spots. You have seen that in PAS. Don't make the same mistake again.

But if you really have to - desperate time needs desperate measure - then thread carefully.
