YOURSAY ‘The only thing flaccid that people want answers is our ringgit.’

Sexual innuendos spice up BN's campaign

Vijay47: I am far from being a prude and where it concerns swear words, I can take it and give it with the best of them.

When it comes to Umno leaders publicly indulging in gutter language, I am not in any way surprised since such conduct is de rigueur for progress within that exalted organisation.

What is shocking, however, is how brazenly and blithely these individuals rely on sewage humour when they also play another role, that of parents and grandparents. And in such sterling performance we have role models like Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, Shahrizat Abdul Jalil, and their close friend from Sabah, Bung Moktar Radin.

Aren't these characters at all embarrassed or fearful that their speeches would be read by their children and grandchildren? Is this all they can think of to attract their audience's attention?

Commentable: One word - disgraceful. Some people can try portraying themselves as intelligent and entertaining but end up failing so miserably.

But let's not be lame, the only thing flaccid that the people are questioning and want some up-front answers is our ringgit. Shahrizat and Zahid should look into that and tell us why our currency is not as ‘hard’ and as strong as the one our neighbours down south have in their pockets.

Sexual fantasies and innuendos won't help you make the ordinary folks forget about the hardship experienced by them due to the Goods and Services Tax (GST) and the financial woes caused by the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) scandal.

So buck up, the voters are not fools.

Slumdog: Yes, this is absolutely disgraceful, distasteful and a poor reflection on the quality of Umno politicians, whose empty brains are filled only with sexual innuendos.

They gloated in their attempt at salacious humour while nothing of any substance came out from the mouth of these clowns.

Hang Babeuf: Very edifying, this cow-lady's ruminations on the virtues that are necessary for a political career, essential to political and leadership success.

Is it any wonder that Malaysia is sinking rapidly down the economic drain, and into a spiral of destructive violence, when you are made to understand that this is how the nation's leaders think and behave?

Ferdtan: God have mercy on Malaysia as we have clowns in our government. Joke or not, it is in bad taste, especially coming from two top BN leaders, one a home minister and the other, Umno Wanita chief.

People, especially the poorer Malaysians, are angry with the increase cost of living due to the recent implementation of GST hitting them hard. They should concentrate on enlightening the people on to cope with the price increases.

Instead they joked about ‘unzipping their trousers’ and the referring to the ‘panjang’ (long) of the Umno Penang liaison chief, obviously referring to his lower part.

And the Umno supporters there at the campaign rally laughed?

Cantabrigian: Umno is on their usual 'sleaze fest' tour. Nobody talks about real issues like GST, 1MDB, Altantuya Shaariibuu, falling ringgit, etc.

Would I vote these people to be my leaders or the people's representatives? A big ‘no’.

Negarawan: What kind of Islamic principle are Zahid and Shahrizat portraying with their shameless display of obscenities? It is bad enough that a man talks like this in public, but for a woman, it is thoroughly disgusting.

The Observer: This is the quality and substance of the political debate that can be expected to emerge from Umno politicians.

Compare that with the issues raised in western and other Asian democracies (including Indonesia), it is not difficult to understand why we remain so far behind when others have gone so far ahead of us.

Versey: Aren't these Umno goons ‘kurang ajar’? No decent rakyat can accept these uncouth and vulgar politicians. They were there polluting the constituency, belittling the intelligence of the people and insulting their decency.

Permatang Pauh voters should just dump the Umno candidate into the trash and show to them that rakyat mentality is far above their level.

The sexual overtones of BN's campaign proves that they not only not able to defend their party on issues such as the 1MDB, the extravagant lifestyle of their incumbent leaders, the wedding of the century, the murder of Altantuya, GST, etc, which were publicly hurled at their leader by their ex-boss Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

They also show that they can't even fake intelligence to talk about government policies on important issues such as good governance, the economy, education, social welfare planning, etc.

Basically they reveal their ignorance and their only skill is gutter politics. Don't they fit into the picture of what the Perlis mufti Mohd Asri Zainul Abidin described as a group of ‘sufaha’ given important posts to manage the country?

Anonymous$&@?: Now we might wonder why these two top Umno leaders have resorted to stand-up comedy when there are more pressing issues to explain to the voters? Are they trying to use laughter to:

(a) lighten the burden of voters whose life has been made harder due to price increases caused by GST?

(b) to make the voters forget about the 1MDB fiasco?

(c) to divert attention that these two comedians have skeletons (National Feedlot Corporation and infamous letter to the Federal Bureau of Investigation to clear someone's name) in their closet that they want the voters to forget?

(d) All of the above.

Ipohcrite: If what transpired at the BN campaign is true, then Home Minister Zahid would do well to remember that his political future and, by extension, his crown jewels are held by Wanita Umno.
