Independent asserts he's not linked to political party

PMTG PAUH Independent candidate Salleh Isahak asserts he is not tied to any political party and is contesting as an Independent in the Permatang Pauh parliamentary by-election.

He said he had not been active in any political party since 2001 and was currently involved in various non-governmental organisations (NGOs).

Salleh said he had formed the Pertubuhan Bakti Ikhlas Malaysia (Perbaik) headquartered in the state as a platform to unite people, regardless of their backgrounds and political affiliations.

He said its objective was to help efforts in transforming human, social and economic excellence.

"I am very upset because there are elements of sabotage in the early stages of the nomination by a handful of PKR people who have distributed a resume and false information purporting that I am a PKR committee member and former Permatang Pauh PKR secretary," he told reporters in Kepala Batas yesterday.

Salleh said he was not sure of their motives but had made a police report at the Seberang Perai police headquarters yesterday for further investigations to take place.
