PKR secretary-general Rafizi Ramli today demanded BN's Permatang Pauh candidate Suhaimi Sabudin make his stand on issues like the goods and services tax (GST) and Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak's leadership.

These are the two dominant issues in the by-election according to a survey, and Suhaimi cannot just keep quiet, he said in a statement.

Suhaimi should make his position clear if he supports or rejects the premier's leadership, as some Umno members have done, added Rafizi. 

"Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin ( left ) has failed to clear the air on why Najib's posters are absent in the constituency.

"Previously Najib's posters stood out compared to BN candidates. PKR will pressure the candidate for an answer.

"Beginning this week, PKR will erects giant billboards of the candidate with Najib and Deputy Finance Minister Ahmad Maslan, to show that he, in fact, supports GST," he said.

With this, Rafizi was confident that Suhaimi had no choice but make his stand clear.

"(Right now) he still hiding behind Muhyiddin and Home Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi," he added.

Rafizi claimed to have invited Suhaimi to a GST forum on May 2 at the Expo Seberang Jaya, after the 'GST ambassador' Ahmad Maslan, turned down the debate challenge.

"Up until now, Umno leaders dare not debate on the GST issue in this by-election campaign," he asserted.
