MCA wanita head Heng Seai Kie has lodged a report with the Election Commission and the police against PKR and DAP for adding a racial twist to her remarks on goods and services tax (GST).

In a press release today, Heng said the authorities were also urged to take stern action against any political party which uses the racial card in election campaign materials.

"To readers who might have been affected by the misrepresentation of my comments by DAP and PKR, I humbly express my deep regrets.

"It is time to put the issue to rest. What is the ulterior motive of DAP and PKR to still harp and twist my comments to center on race?" she asked.

On May 1, China Press had issued an apology to Heng over a report on her speech in Kuala Rompin the day before, where she spoke on the implementation of GST.

Following this, a recording of her speech emerged on Facebook , where she stated that the Chinese have no reasons to oppose GST, in view of the Chinese are likely to have less children and have higher income levels than other ethnic groups.

Previously, deputy finance minister Ahmad Maslan ( left ) said during several ceramah that GST was good for the Malays because Chinese traders would now be forced to pay taxes.

Heng said that opposition parties should take note of the fact that China Press had already apologised for misquoting her.

"(Thus), it is absolutely unbecoming of the opposition to twist and add 'salt and pepper' to my comments," she said.
