Dr M-Najib spat - a case of an eye for an eye

YOURSAY 'Civility' says the man who cancelled a forum on 'moderation' at IIUM.’

'Absence of civility escalates Dr M-PM spat'

Mamadias: Civility exists when both parties practice it in a civilised manner in whatever they do.

When the government machinery is used to undermine the civility of the public, what do you expect in return? Civility? Of course not.

So former minister Rais Yatim, please go and tell your premier to be a gentleman and resign, then we all can be more civilised and would not care much of what his wife, Rosmah Mansor, and his family do.

As the saying goes, an eye for an eye. If the ruling government deals with the public in a civilised manner, we will also behave accordingly. Otherwise, the mudslinging will continue.

Saphire: Rais, it would be helpful of you go and tell Najib to answer the questions that former PM Dr Mahathir Mohamad raised. If he refuses to answer them, how do you expect Mahathir to react?

You were once a teacher. Tell us how you would react to a student who is stubborn and refuses to answer simple questions?

Existential Turd: Indeed, playing dumb, deaf and blind is not the same as being civil.

888: The old fox, nearing 90, thinks and behaves as if he is still a big shot. The premier should just order his arrest for sedition (inciting hatred against the premier) and for treason (for the illegals who hold MyKad).

Apaches: There is no doubt that Mahathir has contributed much to the country. But he should leave it to Najib to manage the country as I am very sure that our premier will give his very best to develop our country and perform his duties with full responsibility.

Yaa lorrrr: We still need Najib to lead our country. Mahathir was a great leader but his time is over and he should help by giving positive advice rather than criticising the government openly.

Anonymous_1421406986: Until today, people hesitate to make any damaging remarks about Mahathir's family out of respect for him. This might change if he fails to conduct himself well, what more after his pilgrimage to the Holy Land.

I had wanted to see a transformation in Mahathir but he has been disappointing. He is not acting like a mentor-leader but as a tyrant-warlord.

Eagle: When people like you, Rais, and the current crop of Umno MPs and ministers cannot see anything wrong in the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) scandal, something is really wrong with our system. This shows a total lack of responsibility. The lack of civility is a minor issue.

Peacemaker: Is it civil to gloss over criminal wrongdoings like theft, murder, corruption and outright dishonesty?

Rais, you got to learn to call a spade a spade otherwise you have no business being in government leadership.

When integrity and righteousness are put behind personal interest and political expedience, you get a Malaysia rolling towards Vision 2020 on its rims.

Dizzer: 'Civility' says the man who cancelled a forum on 'moderation' at IIUM (International Islamic University Malaysia) at the very last minute, thus ensuring maximum inconvenience for all concerned.

Vgeorgemy: Rais, we have seen you several times on TV ridiculing certain journalists for their accent or difficulties in speaking fluently in Malay.

You really feel good making these poor journalists miserable. Indeed, no civility was applied by you when you criticised others.

Mushiro: Indeed, civility should also be extended to Indonesian maids.

Shahidan denies interfering, ropes in Dr M

RCZ: Dewan Rakyat speaker Pandikar Amin Mulia says Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Shahidan Kassim is interfering in his task and Parliament is a rubber stamp as he is often told what to do.

PM Najib Razak says that he did not accept Pandikar’s resignation and will reform Parliament and address the speaker’s complaints. Shahidan says he is not interfering and will continue with business as usual.

Your serve, Pandikar. The ball is in your court. Still want to remain as speaker in this ‘kangaroo’ Parliament?

Visu: Mahathir's objective is to get all Umno members fighting. Generally he knows all these guys are devoid of morality, who would eventually flee like rats when the exterminator comes.

Not one of them has the backbone or courage to fight back or stand up as all of them are afraid of MATI, (Meritocracy, Accountability, Transparency, Integrity), a word coined by Malaysiakini columnist Mariam Mokhtar.

Hermit: Mahathir is smart. The seeds of discord planted by him have germinated. It has been raining since the fight started, which is good to the budding plant.
