YOURSAY ‘Current PM's alleged crimes are nothing new, he merely raised the bar.’

'Pak Lah didn't splurge, but still quit early'

Vijay47: Frankly, Dr Mahathir Mohamad, I am getting extremely fed-up with your daily revelations of the many sins committed by Najib Abdul Razak and his merry men, not that I hold any affection, respect, or admiration for the prime minister.

What Najib is doing now is to reap what you sowed during your reign when you assumed almost divine standing and were answerable to none. So please, spare me your hypocritical holier-than-thou sermons.

The current premier's alleged crimes are nothing new; he merely raised the bar, upped the ante, and refined the host of endless possibilities that come with it. To suit your own rule, you destroyed all the checks and balances we once had.

You allowed cronyism and corruption to soar to unheard-of heights, you destroyed the judiciary, you converted the police force to a pliant tool to serve you and Umno and, not that I care a damn, you crippled the Malays into becoming beggars.

So Mahathir, like they say at the Olympics, you can take a flying leap.

Saphire: Najib is enjoying steroid support from Umno leaders, many of them highly addicted to the drug called ringgit. Take away ringgit, the support collapses like a pack of cards.

Why must he stubbornly hang on to power when the signs are so clear that the public support for him is waning by the hour?

Either he is so blind that he could not see those signs or he simply could not do so because he still has many skeletons to clear from his closet.

Multi Racial: Indeed, the mess was started from Mahathir’s days and since then, those PMs chosen by him made the mess even bigger.

History will judge these three PMs who successfully turned Malaysia from an economic and education powerhouse in Asia to a country left with huge deficit and inefficiency.

Malaysia was the example of a multicultural and multireligious country to the world, but now Malaysians would rather not talk about it as it is an embarrassment.

Corruption was virtually unknown but now, not only it is rampant but it also involved the top leadership.

Who are to be blamed? Malaysians - for continuing to vote for such a government.

Onyourtoes: As I read the comments here, I can't help but feel that most Malaysians are nincompoops who can't see the problems beyond their noses.

Does it matter now what Mahathir has done or not done in the past? Will it bring us back and solve those problems retrospectively? So stop harping on him. He could have chosen to remain silent.

Can you fellows not see the momentum has only gained traction after he has openly criticised the present PM? Please get your priority right.

It is fashionable to bash Mahathir. But right now, we Malaysians have a bigger problem. If we don't solve this problem, it is game over for us.

It does not matter how eloquent or clever your criticisms against Mahathir are.

Legit: Onyourtoes, I completely agree. We have a bigger devil in our midst screwing up this country. We need the other devil to help get rid of this devil.

Ordinary people cannot say and do what Mahathir can do without being charged and incarcerated.

So let the old man do what he is doing and we don't need these readers making all these 'eloquent' comments.

Imanust Nais Yalam: Yes, I will support a hypocrite who is trying to remove a bigger hypocrite. In politics, there are no permanent friends/allies, so there is no need to be too personal about it.

Mushiro: Najib has to abandon his frequently asked questions (FAQs) soon. Like everything that Najib introduced, these FAQs are a failure and being easily used by Mahathir to counterattack Najib.

Dont Just Talk: When Mahathir said, I quote, the supporters of Najib are there and they come because of various incentives, it is an indirect slap on the face of Umno Baru, the party which he once headed because it shows that the members are either easily bought or can be bought when various incentives are thrown to them.

National scandals like the 1MDB with a debt of RM42 billion and which can bring Malaysia down to its knees is of little importance to them and neither is the missing US$1.103 billion which has transformed from cash to assets and now units.

What units are they talking about, is it in the form of salted eggs shares?

Gggg: So who is going to ‘check’ the state of affairs? The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), police, attorney-general, Parliament or the judiciary?

Or should they follow Mahathir’s style such as launching an ‘Operasi Rumput’ this time?
