PKR launches roadshow ahead of new Pakatan

PKR remained coy about how Pakatan Rakyat's replacement will look like but announced a nationwide roadshow ahead of the new coalition's creation.

This is amid arguments between DAP and PAS on whether Pakatan Rakyat was still alive or dead.

PKR vice president Shamsul Iskandar said the roadshow is geared towards creating a "new narrative" in the face of this challenges.

"Of course there are issues and challenges ahead; we are not denying there are problems.

"But right now we need to prepare a new narrative so that people will understand," he told a press conference at the Selangor Menteri Besar residence in Shah Alam today.

He said this is in compliance with PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim's ( photo ) directive from prison for the setting up of a new and broader coalition.

He added the roadshow will also be used to target BN in light of corruption scandals revealed by Wall Street Journal .

New coalition announcement after Raya

PKR communications director Fahmi Fadzil ( photo ) said the roadshow will kick off in Sarawak on July 22 and conclude August 15 in Bentong, Pahang.

However, he was coy about giving any details when pressed whether the new opposition coalition will be announced during the roadshow.

"Let's celebrate Raya first, for if and when it will be announced, we will call a press conference," he said.

The roadshow was announced after a meeting of PKR's monthly leadership council meeting.

On a separate matter, PKR Youth deputy chief Afif Bahardin said his wing was mobilising the party to lodge police reports nationwide against Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak.

This is over a Wall Street Journal report alleging that US$700 million (RM2.6 billion) of 1MDB's funds were deposited into Najib's private bank accounts.

"We also urge NGOs and member of the public to lodge reports to the police and Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission to hold transparent investigations into this latest scandal," he said.
