Bursa Malaysia remained lower at mid-morning today dampened by continued losses in selected key heavyweights, dealers said.

At 11.01am, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) was 21.85 points lower at 1,712.39.

Market breadth was bearish with decliners thumping gainers 560 to 80, while 173 counters were unchanged, 986 untraded and 22 others suspended.

Turnover stood at 671.24 million shares worth RM320.87 million.

Of the heavyweights, Maybank fell 10 sen to RM9.18, Public Bank eased eight sen to RM18.80, TNB slid 14 sen to RM12.54 while Axiata was six sen lower at RM6.39.

The FBM Emas Index declined 150.60 points to 11,807.85, the FBMT100 Index dropped 149.08 points to 11,495.72, and the FBM Emas Shariah Index reduced 167.57 points to 12,263.50.

The FBM 70 gave up 174.27 points to 12,762.14, while the FBM Ace erased 100.38 points to 6,193.42.

On a sectoral basis, the Industrial Index edged downward 48.43 points to 3,154.31, the Finance Index slipped 173.16 points to 15,426.23 and the Plantation Index weakened 61.97 points to 7,399.87.
