The Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) will consider questioning former PetroSaudi International Ltd (PSI) executive Xavier Justo, who is now detained in Thailand, after the Thai police have completed their investigation on the Swiss national.

Inspector-general of police Khalid Abu Bakar said PDRM had voiced its intention to the Thai police to discuss Malaysia’s request to meet Justo.

“There is no development so far. We’ll wait for the Thais to settle the case,” he told a media conference after the presentation of crash helmets to 300 Kuala Lumpur traffic policemen in Kuala Lumpur today.

The Givi crash helmets were contributed by Celcom Axiata Berhad.

The Thai police were reported to have detained Justo last June 24 for allegedly attempting to blackmail PSI, an international company based in Saudi Arabia which had drawn attention in Malaysia as it had established ties with 1MDB.

Following the attempted blackmail, several emails and documents were published by the Sarawak Report , a politically-motivated blog, to the extent of creating various allegations against 1MDB.

Last Thursday, Khalid met Thai deputy inspector-general of police Chaktip Chaijinda to discuss permission to question Justo on the matter.

In another development, Khalid said the police would hold a closed-door meeting with Mara chairperson Annuar Musa on the controversial purchase by the agency of the Dudley International House in Melbourne, Australia.

Earlier, Khalid, together with Celcom Axiata Berhad chief executive officer Shazalli Ramly, presented the crash helmets to traffic policemen on duty.

Also present were Bukit Aman Internal Security/Public order director Muhammad Fuad Abu Zarim and Kuala Lumpur Public Order Department head Wan Abdul Bari Wan Abdul Khalid.
