Pascal Najadi, son of murdered AmBank founder Hussain Najadi, has hired prominent lawyer Gobind Deo Singh to look into his father's murder.

Gobind, who is also DAP's Puchong MP, will be tasked with holding a watching brief during the appeal by Kong Swee Kwan, who was convicted for killing Hussain.

In a Facebook statement yesterday, Pascal said he had also hired Israeli criminal law advocate Nick Kaufman.

He added their task was to "review the sufficiency of the police investigation into the circumstances surrounding the assassination".

"The two legal experts will determine whether the Malaysian investigating authorities have carried out their mandate in accordance with domestic and international human rights law," he added.

Case 'solved', or not?

Kong was allegedly paid RM20,000 to gun down Hussain on July 29, 2013, near Lorong Ceylon in Kuala Lumpur.

He was arrested on September 2013 and sentenced to death a year later by the Kuala Lumpur High Court.

However, Pascal is upset that inspector-general of police Khalid Abu Bakar had declared the case "solved" even though the mastermind who commissioned the assassination - Lim Yuen Soo - remains at large.

Pascal had claimed that Lim was politically connected . Earlier this month, he launched a 'Justice for Najadi' campaign which updates actions taken on its Facebook page.

Gobind had previously called for Hussain's case to be reopened after Pascal complained that his father's assassination was not properly investigated.
