MTES approves applications related to Langat 2

The Selangor Economic Action Council (MTES) has approved several applications made by agencies and local authorities to ensure the smooth implementation of Langat 2 water project.

Menteri Besar Mohamed Azmin Ali said the approval involved planning permission and construction work at the Langat 2 project site.

"MTES today approved applications from the land office, Kajang Municipal Council and the Selangor Forestry Department," he told Bernama when hosting the Selangor government open house at his official residence in Shah Alam today.

Langat 2 is part of the Raw Water Transfer Project to treat 1.89 billion litres of raw water supplied to Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, and Putrajaya until 2025.

Minister of Energy, Green Technology and Water Dr Maximus Ongkili blamed the Selangor government for delaying Langat 2 by ordering agencies and local authorities to suspend approval of permits until the restructuring of the water industry was finalised.
