GHB relaunch on Aug 31 after Kita takeover

The New Hope Movement (GHB) plans to take over the People's Welfare Party or Kesejahteraan Insan Tanah Air (Kita) party and relaunch the party on Aug 31, said Penang GHB interim committee chairperson, Mujahid Yusof Rawa.

He said the party takeover would be made in an extraordinary general meeting to be held soon.

"If we take over from Kita it will be much easier for us to deal with the party constitution reenactment. We are quite ready for that..with regard to the party constitution.

"After the EGM, we would go to the Registrar of Societies for endorsement, it will be similar to the PKR and Parti Rakyat Malaysia merger," he told reporters after the appointment of two council members here today.

The Malaysian Insider had on July 29 reported that GHB would take over Kita as an alternative to PAS.

Mujahid, who is also Parit Buntar Member of Parliament said efforts to establish a new alliance would be easier when the takeover process was completed.

"After the takeover process it will be easier, because as for now we are not a political party but just a platform. Despite that, we are getting very good response from all over country, as well as in Sabah and Sarawak," he said.

Earlier, State Local Government, Traffic Management and Flood Mitigation Committee chairperson, Chow Kon Yeow, announced the reappointment of two council members, Mhd Nasir Yahya (MBPP) and Dahalan Fazli (MPSP), effective Aug 1.

Chow said the appointment was made after the government exco meeting on July 29 approved the re-appointment of the two members from PAS.

Mhd Nasir and Dahalan had earlier resigned as council members after PAS's 61st Annual Congress decided to accept a motion by the Ulama Council to sever ties with DAP, without debate.
