The Bentong Umno Division is to maintain its invitation to party vice-president Mohd Shafie Apdal to open its delegates meeting on Aug 22, its chief Adnan Yaakob said today.
Adnan, who is the Pahang menteri besar, said it was not wrong to have Mohd Shafie open the meeting as he was still an Umno vice-president.
Furthermore, Prime Minister and UMNO president Najib Abdul Razak and Deputy Prime Minister and Umno vice-president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi had no objections to divisions inviting Mohd Shafie to open their meetings, he told Bernama when contacted.
The Lipis, Raub and Cameron Highlands Umno divisions have yet to decide whether to maintain their invitation to Umno deputy president Muhyiddin Yassin to open their meetings later this month.
