Come Saturday, watch out for agents provocateurs

YOURSAY ‘IGP cannot say that he is ignorant of the threat posed by the red shirts.’

Red shirts to take on 'yellow rowdies'

StraightTalk: Why should these red-shirt men flex their muscles and show off their so-called martial art skills in public? What are they afraid of?

Their uncalled for actions only reflect their inferiority complex and low self-esteem. Isn't it obvious that this so-called coalition of NGOs and its red shirt mob are intimidating Bersih 4 organisers and their supporters?

From the beginning, Bersih 4 organisers have been advocating a peaceful rally and have put in place a code of conduct for the rally participants to follow.

We can be sure that should anything untoward happen, in all probability it would not be from the Bersih supporters.

Oxymoronictendencies: Do these demonstrators have a permit? Isn't this an illegal gathering? Or perhaps they don't need a permit because they are "supporting" the government (by threatening to cause harm to Bersih demonstrators).

And they intend to march to Dataran Merdeka. Haven't the police and DBKL (City Hall) already stated that Dataran Merdeka is off limits for demonstrations and gatherings?

Where is the IGP (inspector-general of police) and the government rhetoric deterring these self-styled "vigilante" demonstrators with self-confessed violent intent from gathering.

The double standards and hyporiscy is startling. Who is going to determine when they should "attack"... oops sorry, "defend", the Bersih supporters.

We can only hope that sanity will prevail and we won't witness a bloodbath resulting from the negligence of the authorities - or at the instigation of the authorities.

FairMind: If there is any trouble on Aug 30, the IGP must take full responsibility for the mishaps.

This is because the red shirts have demonstrated their thinly veiled threat in the martial art demonstration in the full view of the public and with the full knowledge of the police.

The IGP cannot say that he is ignorant of the threat. The police have rounded up and jailed security volunteers in Penang for merely patrolling the peaceful neighbourhood.

Here we have a group of people demonstrating their martial arts in public and nothing has been done.

Basket Case: Moderate politicians of all sides, please note that these red-shirt idiots will create a riot so that Najib has an excuse to impose emergency rule. Then it will be even harder to get rid of him and the country will descend into chaos.

I wonder whether Bersih 4 should follow the Penang government's example and back down now in the interest of public order, which will be a noble thing to do. Live to fight another day.

The whole world knows that the government is itching to impose emergency rule; don't give them the excuse which they are waiting for. Back down for the right reason and you will be respected.

Don't lose track of the real reason for the struggle.

Chipmunk: To all Bersih participants, please bring along your camera to take photographs of these red-clad ‘samsengs’. Don't be surprise if they suddenly change their red shirts to blue uniforms.

Hamzah Paiman: The whole world can now see how Umno threatens peaceful people with violence. They can see how unjust the government of the day is when condoning the acts of violent gangster groups.

Aries46: These are Umno-paid samsengs assigned to do its dirty work of threat and violence on peaceful Malaysians who march in support of Bersih 4.

They are mindless and envious of others and will do the bidding of their masters but the key word is money. Anything goes as long as the price is right. Even the red T-shirt they wear is paid for.

Bersih participants must keep a wide berth from these thugs as they are agent provocateurs immune to the law and are protected by their masters.

CQ Muar: Displaying their martial arts skill in public as an attempt to deter the Bersih rally? As disciplined martial exponents, they should know the tenets not to intimidate others with such 'exhibitions'.

A skilled martial arts exponent should be humble and exercise self-restraint, and do not indulge in rowdy behaviour and intimidation to frighten others.

Those who demonstrated at Sogo shopping complex hoping to deter Bersih supporters are nothing but empty kerosene tins.

In order to prove their skill, I'd advise them to register in martial arts competitions, be they taekwondo, karate, kung fu or Thai kick-boxing.

Turvy: The police have notice of what these thugs intent to do. If anyone is harmed or property damaged because of what the red shirts do, the police will be accountable for failing to act.

Clever Voter: None of them probably has a clue on the context of why this is necessary. They are small minded yet so easily manipulated to serve their masters for a few bucks.

These are people who are unskilled, unemployed and uninformed. If only they were told the truth.

Don’t be intimidated by the red shirts
