Anwar Ibrahim will apply to strike out the application of Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Jamil Khir Baharom and two others who are seeking to strike out Anwar’s appeal in his qazaf application.

This was disclosed by lawyer who met Anwar at the Kuala Lumpur Syariah Court today.

"The meeting today was held under tight security as we as lawyers are not allowed to see him in prison. Hence, he was brought out here, to the Syariah Court to meet us and give his instructions.

"Today was fixed for case management for the case where we sought further instructions to reply to the affidavit from Jamil Khir and the two others to strike out Anwar's appeal. He has given instructions to strike out Jamil Khir's application," Kamar Ainiah ( photo ) said.

Following this, she said they will draft the affidavit for Anwar, and will meet him at the KL Syariah Court again on Oct 15.

The procedure under syariah, she said, requires the affidavit to be signed before the court registrar, unlike in civil proceedings where it can be done before a commissioner of oaths.

The meeting today with Anwar was held before Syariah Court of Appeal chief registrar Mohd Khairul Nizam Kassim.

Kamar Ainiah only managed to see her client for about one hour to get instructions.

Tight security

Besides Jamil Khir, the other two are Federal Territory Islamic Department and its chief prosecutor are applying to strike out Anwar's appeal in the qazaf matter.

Anwar, who is now serving a five year-jail term for sodomy, had wanted the authorities to take action on his complainant Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan over the incident.

Qazaf is defined as the wrongful accusation of adultery or homosexuality against a Muslim man or woman, without producing four witnesses as required under syariah law.

There was tight security at the KL Syariah Court complex today by the police with journalists and supporters not allowed entry to the top floor where the meeting was held with Anwar.

Only family members were allow in to see him.

Anwar was then escorted out to a black Toyota Fortuner under heavy guard as party supporters lustily chanted 'Free Anwar, arrest Najib'.

Besides the qazaf application against Jamil Khir, has also applied through his wife and PKR president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail to institute qazaf action against Umno-linked lawyer Muhammad Shafee Abdullah ( photo ) at the Shah Alam Syariah Court.

This follows the senior lawyer's road show where he divulged details of the trial in which Anwar was convicted of sodomy.
