Sarawak Report editor-in-chief Clare Rewcastle-Brown who is wanted by Malaysian police, joined other Malaysians at the Bersih 4 solidarity rally in London yesterday.

Rewcastle-Brown who sported a yellow blouse was handed a yellow balloon with the words "free media" on it.

She was also invited by organisers to deliver a speech during the rally in Downing Street, near the British prime minister's residence, which attracted over 1,000 Malaysians.

The protest in London was part of the Global Bersih movement which held concurrent protests in over 70 cities.

This was in conjunction with the Bersih 4 rally in Kuala Lumpur.

Rewcastle-Brown ( photo ) had doggedly covered allegations of misappropriation in 1MDB and the deposits of RM2.6 billion into Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak's personal bank accounts.

Najib had denied taking public funds for personal gain while his supporters insist the money is a political donation.

Rewcastle-Brown's coverage had led the government to block the website she runs last month.

Subsequently, on August 4, Malaysian police issued an arrest warrant against Rewcastle Brown on grounds of "activities detrimental to parliamentary democracy" and "publishing false information".

Malaysian police also asked for Interpol to issue a red notice against her, but was rejected.
