Only leaders like Saifuddin can change Umno for better

YOURSAY | 'There are many good Umno members ... who are being threatened or shouted down.'

FT Umno Youth joins call for Saifuddin to quit

Anonymous #70881335: I have a lot of respect for former Umno supreme council member Saifuddin Abdullah, who continues to speak up against all odds for a moderate Malaysia.

Those in Umno barking at him to quit the party should take a good look at themselves. Is it Malaysia that they care for or their own selfish political ambitions? Allah knows all.

Firestone: Saifuddin stands by his principles and speaks his mind. He is a humble person and not arrogant at all. He should stay on in Umno and be the change factor and transform the party.

People like Federal Territories Umno Youth chief Razlan Rafii can form a Red Shirt Party.

Just a Malaysian: Indeed, Saifuddin should stay in Umno and lead the fight for a new Umno.

I believe there are many good Umno members harbouring the same thoughts, but who are being threatened and shouted down. Patience, Saifuddin.

Dingy: But it's impossible to change Umno from within. Ku Li (Gua Musang MP Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah) is a good example. It is better to change the government.

Hence, the sooner Saifuddin leaves Umno and joins one of the Pakatan Harapan component parties, the better it is for him.

If he remains in Umno, do you think the present leadership would select him to stand in his former constituency in Temerloh? Even if he was selected, he would not win in GE14 with the present sentiments against BN.

Saifuddin's chances are better under Pakatan and if BN is toppled in GE14, with his vast experience in the cabinet, he would be appointed a minister.

RCZ: Indeed, there is no point trying to change from within. Umno is rotten through and through and needs to be destroyed completely.

Look at how Umno Youth is talking; they are all brainwashed and always singing the same racist and corrupt tune.

Send In The Clowns: One drop of water will not make a mighty ocean flood away evil. Saifuddin, have the courage to move to a new turf. To remain in Umno is not an option.

Urkidding: I just wonder who is at the helm of the government now. While PM Najib Razak is talking about moderation at the United Nations general assembly to world leaders, he has his ‘macai’ (minions) making noises against the minorities at home.

Smer: MCA, Gerakan and all component parties should take note of what is happening. Umno brooks no dissent and won't change their ways, so stop trying to save the coalition.

Umno is already suffering from stage 4 cancer, and it's time to cut them out before the country suffers any further.

Mosquitobrain: One Saifuddin is equivalent to 3,000 Syrians. But it seems Umno prefers Syrians .

The problem Umno faces today is having nincompoops like Razlan Raffi rather than Saifuddin Abdullah.

Stop making Chinese the scapegoat, says MCA Youth chief

Anonymous_1423808262: Why not MCA president Liow Tiong Lai or his deputy Wee Ka Siong issue statements against Umno supreme council member Tajuddin Abdul Rahman?

Perhaps they are following Gerakan chief Mah Siew Keong's example. If Umno gets angry, lower-ranking leaders like Chong Sin Woon and Andy Yong can be the sacrificial lambs.

And where is that Gerakan Youth chief Tan Keng Liang? Why no statements from him? Is he afraid he won't be fielded as a candidate for GE14? All they care about are their own perks.

Gaji Buta: The fact that the PM has not told off this deputy minister shows once again that Umno condones this type of rude behaviour against the minorities, just because they can.

GE14NOW!: It seems like the Umno clowns are clamouring over one another, trying to outdo one another in making racist remarks.

They have all seen how red shirts frontman Jamal Md Yunos has gotten his 15 minutes of fame and they are all trying to do the same.

To the MCA and all other ethnic component parties of the BN, surely you can see that your coalition partner is openly racist. It's time to abandon this ship and kick these people out of Parliament.

Anonymous_1419577444: To all Malaysians of Chinese descent, please ignore all the noises from MCA.

There is a strong indication of ‘wayang kulit’ (Season 2) between Umno and MCA/Gerakan to play on racial issues to distract people from the 1MDB scandal and the RM2.6 billion in Najib's personal accounts.

MCA has never had the guts to talk about these two issues. Why have they suddenly become so "brave" to tell an Umno minister off on something so trivial? Unless they have the blessing from their master, of course.

I'd say the Chinese should just ignore Tajuddin's remarks. He can slap MCA all he wants, even with a fish. It does not bother the rest of us.

We should focus on raising issues that are more important to Malaysia, especially PM’s accountability on 1MDB and his "donation". Do not fall into MCA-Umno's trap.
