Perkasa wants the finalised Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPPA) text, finalised yesterday, to go through bumiputera NGOs before it is tabled in Parliament for debate.
"Bumiputera NGOs must be given ample time, space and and opportunity to go through the oficial text before it is tabled for parliamentary approval," Perkasa economic bureau Ruhanie Ahmad said.
Ruhanie said this is as the TPPA can jeopardise the bumiputera economy.
He said there are political and geo-political elements behind the agreement.
For example, he said, United States president Barack Obama was under pressure to conclude the deal before this term ends.
Similarly, Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper is using the TPPA as election fodder, he said.
Ruhanie said the TPPA will mark the success of Obama's 'US pivot', by focusing the superpower to the Asia-Pacific.
