Will MCA let Ling walk alone, asks DAP lawmaker

Following prime minister Najib Abdul Razak's legal letter to former MCA president Dr Ling Liong Sik, MCA has distanced itself by saying Ling's remarks have nothing to do with the party.

Nevertheless, DAP Segambut MP Lim Lip Eng wants to know whether MCA will cut ties with its former president, or whether it will help Ling by urging Najib to explain who donated the RM2.6 billion and the motive of the 'donation'?

"The MCA grassroots should ask the party to call for an emergency meeting, so that the grassroots can decide whether to let Ling face Najib's suit alone or whether the party will support him to find out the truth behind RM2.6 billion and 1MDB scandal," Lim said

The DAP lawmaker also asked MCA and other BN component parties to urge Najib to reveal the details behind the RM2.6 billion donation.

However, Lim ( photo ) expects MCA to side with Najib and continue keeping mum on the issue - and continue being seen as a non-relevant and cowardly party.

Najib has demanded that Ling apologises and retracts the alleged defamatory statement against him or face legal action.

This followed Ling’s comment published in an article titled ‘MCA's Liong Sik Joins Call for Najib's Ouster for allegedly Putting People's Money in His Own Pocket’, which was published on the Malay Mail Online on Oct 3.

Commenting the issue, MCA president Liow Tiong Lai said since the prime minister has issued a legal letter to Ling, the matter has to be left to the court to judge.

"MCA secretary-general Ong Ka Chuan has stated his view on Ling's remarks, which is that Ling's remarks do not represent MCA's stand," Liow said.
