An Umno lawmaker has slammed former Kedah menteri besar Sanusi Junid for shaming the Malays in front of other races.

Bagan Serai MP Noor Azmi Ghazali said this would only cause the other races, especially the Chinese to look down on the Malays.

"Why did he londeh seluar (pantsed the Malays) in public? I don't agree with that. How can we instill unity when the other races only look at our race's weakness?

"We want to create better racial ties, but he goes off and says that the Malays are willing to sell their dignity," Noor was quoted as saying by BN Backbencher's Club (BNBBC).

Pantsing is the act of dropping someone's pants in public to humiliate them.

At a dialogue last Tuesday, Sanusi ( photo ) said the Malays did not care for their own dignity, and some were even willing to sell it.

"Does he have proof to say that the Malays are willing to sell their dignity?" Noor asked.

He said such things should not be said so openly, and that it would have been better to motivate the Malays on their weaknesses in an event specifically for them.

"By doing this, it will make the Malays realise that they need to do better in the future. Don't say it openly.

"The Malays are angry over what was said and the other races now know more about the Malays' real weaknesses," he said.
