Search area for last missing Orang Asli student expanded

The search and rescue (SAR) operation area to locate last remaining Orang Asli student has been expanded from Sungai Perias to Sungai Nenggiri in Gua Musang.

Kelantan police chief Mazlan Lazim said up till now, there are still many parties involved in the SAR operation.

Mazlan also dismissed the accusations made by irresponsible parties which claimed that the police had practiced 'favouritism' in carrying the SAR operation.

Two of seven missing students, Miksudiar Aluj, 11, and Norieen Yaakob, 10, were found safe on the banks of Sungai Perias by the SAR team last Friday, while the family members had confirmed that Sasa Sobrie, eight, and Ika Ayel, nine, had died.

Two children's skeletal remains which were found have not yet been identified, while another is still missing.

They were of Linda Rosli and Haikal Yaakob, both eight and Juvina David, seven.

The seven pupils of Sekolah Kebangsaan Tohoi in Gua Musang were reported to have fled from their school hostel on Aug 23 as they were afraid of being punished by their teacher for bathing in a nearby river without permission.
