Explosive SD: 'Bad script, bad actor, good timing'

Abdul Rahman Dahlan has dismissed the explosive statutory declaration (SD) by the brother of murdered senior deputy public prosecutor Kevin Anthony Morais as "another wayang (charade)".

"Another wayang with bad script and equally bad actor," tweeted the BN strategic communications director.

He also noted how the allegation, by Charles Suresh Morais, surfaced just before the Umno annual general assembly, which is slated to commence on Dec 8.

"Charles' incredible allegation of murder surfaced long after the incident but just before Umno's AGM. Nice timing," he said.

Abdul Rahman, who is also urban well-being, housing and local government minister, dismissed the allegations regarding a purported charge sheet against Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak.

"MACC (Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission) said the charge sheet was unfounded.

"Everyone except Charles knows the SRC (International) investigation is still ongoing. How can there be charge sheet?" he asked.

Abdul Rahman's tweet describing the latest twist as a charade prompted one twitter user to ask, "Like Lester (Melanyi) and Ramesh (Rao)? Who was the director for that?"

Melanyi, a former jounalist, and Ramesh, who runs a pro-BN NGO, were instrumental behind the move to discredit whistleblower website Sarawak Report editor Clare Rewcastle Brown, who published a series of exposes on 1MDB and the investigations concerning Najib.

In his SD, Charles claimed his elder brother, who was seconded to the MACC, had penned his initials on the charge sheet, which was exposed by Sarawak Report .

Previously, Attorney-General Mohd Apandi Ali also dismissed the charge sheet as fake.

Charles, who released his SD during a press conference yesterday, also alleged to have received a pen drive from his brother which detailed the cases the latter was working on.

He also claimed Kevin told him he was working on a case involving the prime minister and his wife Rosmah Mansor.

The MACC is probing the transfer of RM42 million from the Finance Ministry-owned SRC International to Najib’s personal bank accounts.

The prime minister has denied using public funds for personal gain and claimed there is a conspiracy to topple him.
