DRB-Hicom Bhd has appointed Syed Faisal Albar Syed Ali Rethza Albar as group chief executive officer (CEO) effective Jan 4, 2016 to succeed Mohd Khamil Jamil.

Mohd Khamil will retire on Jan 20, 2016, it said in a filing to Bursa Malaysia today.

“Syed Faisal, 50, is an accountant with extensive corporate experience in various industries.

“He has held various executive positions, among them, chief executive officer of Malakoff Corp Bhd, Gas Malaysia Bhd and New Straits Times Press (M) Bhd.

“He was also former executive director of Konsortium Logistik Bhd and group managing director (MD) of Pos Malaysia Bhd,” it said.

DRB-Hicom said Mohd Khamil would relinquish the position of the group MD on March 1, 2016, in order to allow time for the handover to the new group CEO.

It said Mohd Khamil joined DRB-Hicom as deputy group chairperson on July 19, 2005 and assumed full executive function/duty effective Aug 16, 2005.

He was appointed the group MD on March 1, 2006, it said.
